What would you do?

Let's say you orderd pizza and it was delivered to your home and you pay the delivery man.  When you open up the pizza to eat you noticed that its a large pizza but you had ordered a medium pizza and paid the delivery man (whose left by now) the cost of a medium pizza.

What do you do?

What should you do?

Oh man....taxing.

Questions of Fundamental Truths, the Ultimate Existence, problems that have plagued mankind for eons. And you expect us to be able to answer! How could you akhi?! Can we lighten the load please?

I wrestle with such dilemmas daily. It is a bane. We are burdened so. Alas…

Abu Khaled, lol, that's the whole idea.  ;)  I'm curious how you would handle it, really I am. :)

Princess, you wouldn't feel the least bit guilty about eating part of a large pizza, even though you paid for only a medium one?  You wouldn't call up the pizza place and say, you gave me a large pizza but only charged me for a medium one?  You wouldn't go down to the pizza store and pay the pizza place $3.58 (the difference in cost between a medium and a large one) ?  ;)   Decisions, decisions. :)

Simple answer. Next time you order a pizza let them know that you owe $3.58 because of the mix-up first time round. Either they'll waive the amount you owe, or say "uhhh.. ok thanks."

i once ordered pitza and paid for it with a credit card..and when the delivery boy came i forgot to add the tip on the receipt..he saw it, and just gave me this "look" to make matters worse..this was a boy from my high school, who i worked with in publications, hahahahh..i felt soo bad..i called the pitza place and gave him like a huge tip..i think it was more outta guilt then anything else :)

to answer ur question bhaloo..i'd let the ppl know what they did..but i'd still eat it :) u shouldn't throw away food :) andi LOVE pitza :) ma'salaam ;-D

as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllahi wa barakatuh,

Abu Khaled :)

Reminds me of something br. Mokhtar said the other day.  He said that our hearts are like
'spiritomoters' that measure our consciousness of Allah..and in the same way some thermometers measure every 10 degrees or every 100 degrees, as are our hearts.. some of our hearts are more precise in their consciousness of our actions, and some are at the point that something little doesn't even register at all...

I didn't explain it very well but it really was a very interesting analogy...

Anyway... so one day I'm talking to my Mom, and she told me how she bought a pound of shrimp or something at the grocery store... and the guy weighing it was a neighbor, and the price he labeled it for was less than the amount it should have been.. but my Mom didn't realize it until she was out of the store and she had already paid for it.  So she doesn't know whether to go back in and tell them what happened, because she doesn't know if he even gave her a full pound or if he was just doing her a favor.. and she doesn't want him to lose his job by reporting him..

It was just really fascinating to listen to her tell this story... she felt such guilt, and she went through this whole inner conflict, trying to figure out what would be the right thing to do... over something so small that she wasn't even responsible for...

SubhanAllah, I don't think I'm at that level of consciousness of my actions... my spiritometer is like every hundred degrees... only really big actions effect it :)

I don't know.. I don't know what I would do if that happened to me Arshad... but I think it's a good question because it reflects a lot about you personally..

wasalaam.

assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh! :)

guess whoooooo?!?!?!? :)

well...you can call them up and explain the mixed up situation..or you could've ran out of the house shouting out PIZZA MAN PIZZA MAN!!! U GAVE ME THE WRONG PIZZA! :) but the most likely response would be "we're sorry and thank you for notifiying us"..b/c they are an established chain..i doubt they'll ask or would accept the money..if it was some low key pizza deliverer, they might appreciate it or even "reward" you or brush it off as well. :)

we've had the opposite occur to us..we'd order two large pizzas and in the rush and excitement of giving my bro the $$$ and bringing out the pizza, and grabbing slices...we'll notice HEY, these are medium and we paid for the large..but there really isn't anything that you can  do..esp if you ordered it late in the night. ;)

so....to ease your conscience..you could call the pizza place back to hear their response...or if it really bothers you, give the remaining money for sadaqah! ;) or go out and feed a friend/person! :)

pizza hut: makin' it great..(wait..they've updated their motto haven't they?) ;)

Californian salaams and smiles,
your sister in islam :)

Glad you could join us here. :)  Where is that welcoming committee? ???  Although they already know who you are, right Meraj and Princess. :)

Usually that is the case, there is some mixup where they give you something smaller then what you ordered.  I don't think I have had the medium ordered pizza and get a large one deal happen to me.

Once I was in a grocery store and bought some corn on the cob.
The price was 5/$1.00.
Usualy corn is sold by doz. or 1/2 dozen.
I bought 6.
For what ever reason, probably my kid wanting a candy bar in the checkout lane, When the clerk asked me how many was in the bag I said 5.
She never looked.
When I got home I realized my mistake.
The next time I went to the store I just told the cashier to ring up 20 cents under produce.
She never asked why and did.

Thinking about that one, wouldn’t that be great dawah as well?

“Sorry Mr Pizza Manager but I consumed what wasn’t strictly mine and hence I’m returning the amount I owe you for my religion says I should be just in my dealings with all people”

Okay I’m sure you could say it better than that but you never know, the guy may be moved by your willingness to set the record straight. At least he would get a positive image of Islam from your actions.

If we all had our “spiritometers” fully calibrated I guess there should be no difference between what you would do and what you should do
