Here is a forward I received.

This is the survey about the picture of the year  in NBC.

Please vote for this picture:

"A death in Gaza"

Please email as many people as you can to change the balance toward this picture.

It may have some effect if "A Death in Gaza" is shown everywhere as NBC's picture of the year.

as-Salaamu 'Alaykum,
I was reading this article and here was the last line of it:
At least 331 Palestinians, 61 Israelis and 13 Israeli Arabs have been killed since the Intifada began in late September after peace talks stalled.
      Reuters
Subhan Allah, you can remember a news article or commotion about almost every 61 of the Israelis that were killed.  But when the Palestinians riot when dozens of them are killed, it's called terrorism.
Just thought I'd add that here.

Take care,

Zubaid Kazmi

ISRAEL TRIES HIDE EVIDENCE OF AL-DURRA KILLING

The New York Times has published a front-page story about Israeli attempts
to eliminate an image showing the murder of 12-year-old Muhammad Al-Durra,
shot by Israeli soldiers while being sheltered by his father, from an
MSNBC.com contest for "Picture of the Year." Until recently, the image was
voted the number one picture, but has been moved to 6th place following a
campaign by the Israeli consulate in Los Angeles.

In a letter to supporters, Meirav Eilon Shahar, Consul for Communications
and Public Affairs for the Consulate General of Israel in Los Angeles, wrote
that the image shows "children led into the crossfire by their own parents
for publicity purposes...The Muslim and Arab community has whipped up an
onslaught of support for this photo; we urge you to match and exceed their
activism and organization by making certain that it does not win."

The Times article quoted CAIR's Ibrahim Hooper saying, "Whenever there is an
attempt to show the Palestinians as human beings who suffer under
occupation, then somehow it has to be eliminated at any cost...This is a
picture of a child being protected by his father. It is beyond disgusting
what the Israelis are saying about it."

ACTION REQUESTED: Show the Israelis that they cannot kill people, lie about
it, and then try to wipe out the evidence. Show them that they are right
that the Muslim community is active and organized.

slm,

Ok, I'm thinking, what the *hell* is wrong here??? I mean...EVEN if the Death in Gaza doesn't affect you, what on EARTH makes these goofy pictures of the dogs the best of the year!?!? I mean, no doubt, the Death in Gaza, is by FAR the most moving, but there are some other cool pics! I'm just wondering why people everywhere voted for these silly DOGS?!  Three of them!! There's men running out of fires, freakin aurora borealis type phenomenas, amazing storm pictures, and these people vote for a dog peeking outside of a fence!  I can go to my neighbors yard and take that SAME picture!! Subhan'Allah.

Ok, yes, its just a little picture contest, I know..but really, it tells us soo much about the American culture.

Take Care,
Wassalam,
Nazia
