Salom Ali Kom Salom Everyone!

I say this from respecting you even though I am a none muslim.

I am Canadian from Halifax Nova Scotia.

Well aquianted with Islam through Friday prayers at Dalhousie University with Imam Dr. Jamal Badawi.

I have studied the Quran and Islam for seven years now.  Islam is one of many Faiths which I am studying at this time.

I believe in the Holy Quran, the Prophet Mohammad Peace be Upon Him and Islam.

However I also believe in other Faiths also and their benifits to mankind.

When I saw the Truths and Proofs for myself in the Holy Quran I thought it would be a good idea for there to be a copy of the King Fahd's Edition in English and Arabic for every school in Canada and the USA I thought this would be an excellent Jihad or struggle.

I have to say that I respect all religions for the Spiritual Truths they bring.  And wish none of them ill.

It is in learning about other religions that one appreciates their own more.

I have found an excellent web site on Women and Islam and plan to study it more.

At this time I am a Bahai.

It is in our religion that we should study the Quran and Islam so we better understand our Faith.

That is not to say that some Bahai's do not become muslim because they do of their own free will.

As it says in the Quran Allah brings to the Islam those whom will come and those who don't it is between them and Allah.  Not an exact quote.

I enjoy discussing Islam with my brothers and sisters and welcome hadeath and surrahs that will cheer my soul as I have been feeling down of late.

I have been asked why I have not become muslim and the truth is I do not have the strength that my dear Brothers and Sisters have to give up so much of my western culture.

Also I am happy at this time with my Faith as it is.

Though Islam has it's appeal and I understand the Truth in it.

It is my dream one day to study comparative religion so I may understand even more about other religions and their people.

I promote the reading of the Quran and investigating Islam because I think it is a good religion with a lot of Truths in it.

I believe Mohammad was the messenger of God ending the Adamic cycle and now a new cycle begins.

I look for to hearing more about Islam and the Holy Quran.

My web site which is none muslim it talks about my spiritual journey and has some pictures of projects on it on pages Downtown Mural, Sissons Court and my Biography.

I am just sharing it you may visit or not it is up to you.

It does contain some verses from the Quran to interest my readers in Islam.  I would welcome further Surrah's or Hadeath which might interest readers in Islam as well.  If you have any you want to share email them to me and I will put them on my site.

Anne Marie,

Welcome to the board.  :)

I understand that it may be difficult to give up so much of your culture, but that isn't something that should prevent you from embracing Islam if you think it is right.  Your actions, habits, diet, lifestyle etc all come secondary to what you believe.

If you believe that there is nothing worthy of worship but God, the One true God, alone, and that Muhammad is His prophet, you should profess that.

That belief is what is most important.  The other things can be worked on over time.  They don't all need to stop right away.  Heck, I've been Muslim my entire life and I still don't do all the things I'm supposed to as a Muslim.  What makes you Muslim is not being perfect and free from sin, it's believing that there is no god but God alone, that Muhammad is His messenger, and working to live your life by these things.

Woah, didn't mean to toss all that at you at once.

I hope you enjoy your stay here :)

Anne Marie:

I just have to say something.  You say that you don't become Muslim b/c you don't want to give up the "Western Lifestyle."

What is it that you think you will have to give up?

We don't live so differently from everyone else.  I still eat cheeseburgers and drink Dr. Pepper.  I still speak English (in your case, it seems like you are French speaking?).  I still wear Nike sneakers.  What is different? That you don't eat pork, or consume alcohol (which Baha'i don't do anyway), that you dress modestly, that you don't date.  Not too much.  But the benefits of being a Muslim far outweigh a little awkwardness at work or school.

I would say that if you had said that you don't become Muslim b/c you really believe in Baha'ullah and what not, then I wouldn't say anything.  But you didn't say  that, and it seems to me, just from what you have written, that you believe in the truth of the Qur'an and Sunnah, but that you are torn between the values (tolerate everything, everything is the Truth, it's all equal) that we are raised to have here, and the non Muslim lifestyle and what you believe to be the truth.

Because I am a Muslim, I have a duty to myself and to Allah to say that if you were to say La illaha il Allah, Muhammadur Rasul'Allah and then live according to this, then I can guarantee you, by the promise of Allah and His Final Messenger and Final Prophet that you will have felicity in this world and the next.

Islam is the direction to the light
it's not in rocks or tree's or other humans
the light is within your heart
and you can only reach it by removing the veils
of fear of self and fear of commitement
so release the light

I have prayed on this and I am not ready to make the commitment required to be a muslim at this time.

I will however increase my knowledge of it so that when the time comes.

At this time my Faith is with the Bahai Faith that does not mean that I do not believe in Islam for we as Bahai's must believe in Islam and the Prophet Mohammad is the messenger.

On my journey to understanding Islam more I hope my brothers and sisters will share the Quran and Sunnah with me so that I may understand and appreciate Islam even more.

I look forward to sharing the Quran and Islam with you in the days to come.

Blessings be upon you for your efforts!
