Toys? Hehe well lemme try and remember. I'll make a list:

1. He-Man/Skelator toys. I musta gone through 5 or 10 sets of those. Man those He-Man figurines sure had chewey heads. Especially good old Skelator ;)

2. Tonka Toys, are these even still around? I had like a whole set of toy trucks made by this company.

3. Ninja Turtles, I didn't "discover" these till I came to the US. I think at one point I collected ALL 4 turtles, in 5 or 6 different styles.

4. Lego. Who hasn't had at least one set of good ol lego :)

Games? Well I've been on the computer since I was 4. My first computer was the good old Apple IIe. Anyone here remember games like Sticky Bear , Karateka and the ORIGINAL Wolfenstein 1D  hahaha man I used to love those games. Sticky Bear was a lot like Reader Rabbit and those types of educational games. The graphics were awesome for that time, and you actually learned things from those games :)

Ahh the youthful 80's :)

Anyone here have any of the old Star Wars toys?

Oh my goodness, I loved my She-ra doll!

When I was about five, I had these three dolls, they were plastic and maybe two-three inches tall.  They were completely flat on the back and had two long ponytails.  They came with plastic clothes you could pop on them.  Does anyone remember what they were called? I think it was pop-something like pop-ems (not popples, those were the plush animals that rolled into balls)
Oh and I had one of those weebles wobble but they dont fall down thingies...

Assalamu alaikum wr wb

Toys, hmm let's see.....

i was into dolls, and toy cars, star wars action figures, games, the games i played were operation, game of life, perfection, sorry, trouble, scrabble, candy land, snakes and ladders, steps to paradise, pictionary, and a few others which names escape my mind.

I was into the barbie dolls, and cindy dolls, and strawberry short cake dolls, my little pony, poppals, smurfs, snorkels, gummi bears, mickey mouse.

i remember having this mickey mouse doll.  It was very cute, it was one of my favorite toys.  My mom accidently tore its head off.. lol... i was so upset, cried for days...

cabbage patch kids doll, those were cool.

i was also into legos and blocks and playdough.
i enjoyed the ball pits, and a few other toys..

now when i go shopping for toys for my son or my niece, i just remember how i was so into these toys when i was their age..

the little miss kitchen, and easy bake a cake in oven, mr snoopy slushy machine,  little dolly drink her milk and wet her pants *snicker*

puzzles were good though for some reason i didnt have the patience to do the really big ones and complicated ones...

i loved make belief toys, and playing house and school.  Pretending to be a school teacher, while my stuffed animals and dolls were my students, and getting them to do all their work on time.
Pretending to be a mother, with a dozen dolls as my kids and trying to do all the cleaning and cooking and still looking good.. :)
playing with my tea set, and actually putting like pomemgrante seeds in the pot and pretending to prepare them.
pretending by being shipwrecked on an island, and using the bed as a ship, and a tent as the shelter and eating stuff like cherwa and the fruits to cherish each one as if it was your last.
playing hide and seek in the dark, and spud, and glow in the dark hide and seek, or hide and peek.. lol...   spud is a game with a ball, where you give everyone a number and then call the # while you throw the ball in the air, while then all the other kids run the other way, and the # of the person you called runs to get the ball and as soon as they get the ball they yell 'spud' then every1 stops running, and they have to take 3-5 giant steps to the person closeset to them and try to hit them with the ball..   if they do, that person gets an s, if they miss, they get an s.  first person to spell spud, gets spud spank...
lol..
that was cool..

there were a lot of other stuff that i use to do, but the memory is fading me.. afterall in another 3 yrs i'll be hitting 30... wow subhanAllah!

ok i remember now, blowing bubbles was cool, and playing jumprope, and double dutch, and hop scotch, and hula hoop, and jumpsie, and jacks, and marbles....  those were the cool times.

playing the silliest little role playing games you could imagine...
wow subhanAllah how time flies.

i see how big of imgination my son has and im thinking to myself 'was i like that?'   lol.
i must have drove my mom crazy...

take care
walaikum assalam

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullah
wow! these posts sure do bring a LOT of beautiful memeories :-) I remember having this big doll which was half my size and my mom later told me that she'd bought it at some airport duty free. I used to love playing wiht it and would actually apply "makeup" to it wiht crayons :)
I absolutely loved playing wiht my numerous tea sets and pretending to be mommy to my little bro and sending him to school and cooking etc.....and oh yes I've also had a couple of "doctor sets" complete with a little steth and syringe (minus the needle of course)....and I remember when I was a little older ..around 13 maybe..we bought a telescope from KidsRUs ..that really was neat.

Hydro: U used to watch Grandizer?! So did I!..and they did have dolls for them, and did u also watch a  similar cartoon "Jongar"? heheh..I actually still remember how jongar died lol ..and what about "thunder cats" and "bionic six"??
yup.. that is some flashback!
ahh to be a five year old again.... *sigggghhhh*

Assalam-u-Alaikum,

Aaah.. the Transformers!  Which one was your favourite?  I didnt really get inot those toys untill I was a bit older but they were great nonetheless.  My favourite was Springer ... helicopter thingy, ground vehicle thingy and robot all in one... and who could forget Blitz: tank and f-15.  AWESOME!  Can't forget to mention the ones in which you combine five transformers to make one giant killa.

I also watched Grandizer occasionally but not nearly as much as Captain Majed... i mean this kicks in triangles rather than arcs!!  I wa smore interested however in Bugs Bunny, Daffy, tom and jerry etc. and tiny toons, bionic six, thunder cats... u name it.

The main board games in my life would be Monopoly and Risk.

Thats it i guess

Strawberry shortcake, heheh yeah I remember that. My sister had one of those stuffed dolls, it smelt just like strawberries (surprise ;) )  I don't remember what happened to it though, we've moved around a lot so it could be anywhere between here and Egypt hehe.

Pooh Bear all over the room? Do you know my sister? She's like pooh bear crazy. Thing is, pooh bear is probably only one of the decent cartoons out there for kids now.

I can't believe I found pictures of two of my favourite games!!!

Grandstand Astro Wars was as Space Invader shoot'em up where the 1" joystick always used to fall apart whenever you gave it some stick.

Tomy Demon Driver was a helter skelter ride in a Grand Prix car with a (yeah you guessed it) 1" steering wheel.

They sure don't make games like they used to ;-)

Check out the pics!

Btw wasn't the He-Man cartoon called He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and wasn't his catchphrase when he turned into He-Man and pulled out his sword out from behind his back: I have the power

Amazing what you watch and listen to when you’re a kid!

Here goes a list::)

the most striking- Tyco automatic racing cars with glow-in-the-dark tracks, the sobering game of Life, the spy game- Stratego, "You sank my battleship"- Battleship, as a kid thought it was boring- Scrabble, commercials where the companies kept interrupting the cartoons e.g. Hasbro, Mattel, Fischer-Price,the game we would disregard the rules to- Sorry, Ludo and Carum (very desi), Cricket(in Canada)- no tea time for us kids just kool-aid, Into the computer games by Atari- PacMan, Space invaders, Asteroids, Donkey Kong, Combat; guli-danta (stick-ball, back in india), latoo (or tops), marbles too, a doll where you try to stretch its arms as long as you can and it recoils back in shape, fond of collecting hockey cards (back in Canada too), lawn jarts(dangerous but fun), Crash-up Derby Wheelie's Fun(??), pillow fights (once knocked my friends tooth out), rock fights (in india-sort of mean game), every doll i won at the amusement park my mom turned it into a pillow and that's that.  but the most exciting was the loop da loop car tracks we used to build.

Assalam ualykum,

Speaking of cartoons wearing pants there is one cartoon figure that really needs to wear pants in fact a top! have you guys ever seen the cartoons with the cow and chiken? Where the cow wants to marry the chiken or they date or something? weird, i know.... this was back when we had cable tv and I thought well the safest channel would be the cartoon channel. Man what do these people produce these days.

anyway, they have this cow walking upright all the time, you know like on two legs, and as you know cows are females and well, let's just say her udders looked a lot like breasts. Now there is nothing wrong with the way a cow looks but.... i don't know. I just didn't like it, the way they had the cow walking upright, so poor me had to sit with my little sisters and brother to supervise them but I never let them see that stupid cartoon! We watched Pooh and friends. :)

my hubby dear is just a *fantastic* Carrum player. Sometimes I'm left with my mouth hanging open after he's cleared the board *again*. I'm learning and fast, it's nice having a profi teach me.
I used to love cartoons like the Smurfs or the Gummi Bears (bouncing here and there and everywhere..) Transformers or He Man were never my thing.
My favourite indoor hobby when I was small was "colouring in" and outdoor was "climbing trees"

I learned to ride my sister's bike when I was four and when my parents saw this they bought me a bike in my size for my fifth birthday. As Kathy said "the freedom..."

listening to records "the Runaway Train", "the Laughing Policeman" and "the Ugly Duckling"

can anyone identify??

Back when we were all young and innocent, no worries, no hassle ahhh...

Lego - I had a massive collection
Connect4 - I don't know if you had that in the states, i was a mean player.
BBC comp- I got this when I was about 7, wow man what a machine with its staggering 32k ram, all-time classic games

and finally,
Transformers (cf. proudtobemuslim post)

my favourite was the dude in charge of the Autobots, what was it ? i think Octomus Prime (mean truck eh ?)

Who do you reckon would be the megatron from this board ? ???

Transformers, more than meets the eyes, de dah dah deh (sorry forgot the words)

I don't know whether I want to laugh or cry after reading the above!!

I used to love watching Hong Kong Phooey ;-)

For those of you who don't know, this guy was a dog who posed as a janitor but who actually turned into this funky martial arts superhero. He would go into the top drawer of a filing cabinet as a janitor and come out the bottom drawer as a Kung Fu Master. Every week though he wouldn't solve the case but his trusted cat would.

I'm not sure what disturbs me the most though, the fact that I used to watch this stuff or the fact that I can still remember it!!

the good old 80's

------
It is narrated that Optimus Prime Ameer of the Autobots said "Do not grieve. Soon I shall be one with the Matrix. Ultra Magnus, it is to you, old friend, I shall pass the Matrix of Leadership, as it was passed to me. [But Prime, I am just a soldier. I'm not worthy.] Nor was I, but one day an Autobot shall rise from our ranks, and use the power of the Matrix to light our darkest hour. Unitl that day, till all are one." Refer to Transformers: the Movie

This hadith has been narrated through four Autobots, with weak chains, which support each other.  One is accused of lying (starcream) but on scrutiny this does not hold.  Therefore, it is inshaa Allh, Hasan lighayrihi as al-Hafith Ibn Megatron has stated.
