EQ?

Asalaamu Alaikum ;-)
More than that, your husband is a man.  I'm gonna get in trouble with the guys for saying this, but for sure most of the guys I know are completely blockheaded when it comes to what a woman is feeling and thinking.  My brother himself says his IQ might be ok, but his EQ (emotional quotient) is in the single digits.
Hmm....we're meant to be telepathic???

Hmmm...okay so who do you think would make a better husband?

A brother who has had sisters for siblings or one who hasn’t?

Sr Mona, I’ve been trying to find something to rhyme with sympathetic all day but alas to no avail!!! ;-)

THAT would depend on what sort of sisters he had! :P

What can I say...boys will be boys !! So?? What does it matter if he did? And look what you've done now.  You scared the poor bro off and he retracted his post.
Kashif bro, it won't be taken against you to post in this folder. You are welcome here any time. :)

As for Br Khalid's comment, I think there is a tremendous benefit to having sisters, even beyond making them better husbands :) Even though we -sisters- have to endure them during this 'training' period. :-)

You'll appreciate your sister more when you get married, I know my brother did grow a lot after marriage and having kids; he no longer derives so much pleasure from annoying and bugging me. Oh, I miss those good ol' days!

Salamu Aliakom,

Speaking of having sisters, Well I only have ONE sister and my parents only had us two, so all we have is each other :) I thank Allah everyday that I have her for sis, as she is one of the best friends that I have alhamdulilah.

You guys who aren't close to your blood sister(s), give it a try. You won't know what you are missing if you don't.

I was wondering, is there a test to determine EQ like the one for IQ? Or is EQ a totally abstract concept with no way to measure it objectively?

I think a boys EQ is developed more by his interactions with his Mom than with his sisters. if you watch how he treats her- you may get a different picture.

Asalaamu Alaikum ;-)

Not wishing to be dogmatic here, but isn't the EQ point about husbands not *anticipating* but *reacting* to the emotional needs of their wives?

The "What's wrong? I thought everything was okay" type thing

If a guy developed his EQ, could he avert potential pitfalls before they even cropped up? Or is that really asking too much?

As for Br Kashif the words "red handed" and "caught" spring to mind ;)
