some things...

as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllahi wa barakatuh,

Look, realize that your posts are not just being read by Muslims, or by Muslims that think like you.  Keep in mind that this message board is open for *anyone* to read, active Muslims, non-Muslims who don't know much about Islam, differing sects/groups, Muslims who are shaky in their faith and need encouragement, missionaries, people looking for answers or are in doubt, people coming here to observe how Muslims act, believe, and interact with one another...

You are impacting the way people view Islam and Muslims.  What you write is being seen by any number of people at any point in their life... keep this in mind, especially when you write out of anger, or write something you know people will be offended by.  Even mean or mocking comments about ethnic/religious/whatever groups can turn people off Islam.  Imagine being a Christian and coming to this board and seeing Muslims call non-Muslims "dirty"?  What kind of daawah is this?  Is that ever something Rasulullah [saw] would have done?  How is that going to attract people to Islam? We don't hate people.  We hate the wrong that they do... but if we are turning people away from Islam we're committing wrong as well.

There's no need for this.  In a recent email someone made a really wise comment, he said that there is so much anger in some posts.  That's fine, if you're angry about something, but realize there are consequences to your actions and words and use your anger for good instead of making things worse for us.

My point is that we need to be careful what we write.  It's the same as if you were speaking to someone.  All too often because we're hidden behind a computer screen we think we can get away with things that we would never even consider doing in real life.  But what you write in this forum is as real as any word that comes out of your mouth.  Sister jannah was very right when she said that often times we act like the Kiramul Katibeen [the angels that record our deeds] can't read computer screens.

Just keep that in mind when you write a post, don't trash anyone, don't write something that'll offend people... because you don't want your post to help someone turn away from Islam..

wAllahu 'alam

wasalaam

walikumas'salaam warahmatullah :)

i totally understand what u're sayin..everyone should stay within limits..but there's always gonna be ppl who find offense to something..:) and, yeah, we should try to stay away from ahh, calling things "haram" and calling ppl "kaffirs" cuz we really aren't anyone to judge others :) like u said, "Allahu alam" but i do agree with u, more or less :) ma'salaam ;-D

First the sports folder now here, two disses in less then 5 minutes, that's fast.

Se7en is absolutely right, especially this part, that Meraj even quoted, We don't hate the person, but we hate the wrong that they do.
