How well do u know the Aqsa mosque?

Assalamu alaikum
from : http://www.islamway.com/eng/html/article.php?sid=67&mode=thread&order=0 Will the real Al Aqsa please stand up!

Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him) (in Arabic he is called ‘Sulaiman'), built a mosque, a long, long time ago, on Mt. Moriah in Jerusalem.

He dedicated it to the worship of Allah s.w.t. the One True God.  Like his father, Prophet David (peace be upon him) (in Arabic he is called 'Dawood'), he was a prophet and a messenger,  calling all humanity to the worship of Allah s.w.t. and to establish piety on the earth.

Now, all these years later there is some confusion about the site of this mosque.  In  the eastern part of Jerusalem is the Old city, a quadrangular area built on two hills.  Within the wall there are four quarters. The Muslim quarter, on the east, contains the Haram ash-Sharif, within which are the ‘Dome of the Rock' and the ‘Mosque of al Aqsa'. Both places are sacred sites for Muslims.  However it is around the Mosque of Al Aqsa that the confusion lies.

Whenever mention is made in the local or international media pertaining to Al Aqsa, a picture of the ‘Dome of the rock' will appear.  These two mosques lie within a rather close proximity to each other but they bear little resemblance.  All over the world, we can find pictures of the ‘Dome of the rock' under the heading ‘Al Aqsa' , to the point that people aren't really sure anymore, which is which.

The difference however, is clear and simple.  The ‘Dome of the rock' bears the sacred rock that Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) stood on when he went on the ascension to the heavens, while Al Aqsa mosque lies on the site of the original mosque of Prophet Solomon (Sulaiman) (peace be upon him).  Islam reveres both Jewish and Christian traditions, as these two religions belong to its traditions.
Actually Al Aqsa Mosque was the original qibla (The direction of prayers), which was later changed during the time of Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) to the Ka'ba at Mecca.

The reason for the deliberate dispersion of false information is also clear and simple.  By focusing attention on the ‘Dome of the rock' under the label of Al Aqsa, people all over the world will not know when the real Al Aqsa mosque finally disappears.

Don't you have to be careful if you visit Jerusalem to make sure the Isrealis don't stamp your passport?

What was it like for them to pray in Al-Aqsa Mosque btw?
i know what you're talking about...but..isn't the dome of the rock UNDER the whole masjid al aqsa territory you know?
Exactly!

The fact that the actual building of Masjid al-Aqsa is another structure,
different from the Dome of the Rock, should in NO way reduce our emotional
attachment to the Dome of the Rock!  The fact of the matter is that when
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'aala says "Glory be to Him who took his slave (pbuh)
from Masjid al-Haraam to Masjid al-Aqsa ..." he refers to the entire LAND,
and NOT just that structure that is there today.  We know this because at
the time of Israa' wal Mi'raaj, that structure was not built.
Furthermore, it was the spot of today's Dome of the Rock from where the
Prophet (pbuh) ascended to the heavens during the night of Mi'raaj.

So the bottom line is that it is the land, the area - ALL of it - that is
blessed, and that the Muslims are fighting for.

But ...

As the original post says, it is nonetheless important to know that the
Mosque which is called Masjid al-Aqsa is actually a different structure
than the Dome of the Rock.

wa alaikum assalaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh

oh they LOVED it! masha'allah they said it was beautiful! the whole jerusalem experience masha'allah..dad vidtaped it too and they saw most if not all the sites including the contract with Umar radiallahu anha and the signatures of the sahabahs..the dome of the rock is where the women pray..and dad told us all about the whole masjid..the cave etc..and how in the masjid, there are all the diff mihrabs accord to the diff madhabs..and how subhan'allah there weren't any problems nor fitnah caused..everyone prayed together and peacefully etc..they brought things back with them too..they really enjoyed it..i kind of forgot the stories though ;) since it was last year..but also how it was difficult b/c of the rules imposed by the israelis and how they try to block the masjid etc..

lol well the israeli soldiers weren't that bad with my parents b/c they're american citizens..and they didn't want to paint a negative image lol it's so funny cause my parents would smile and say how when they were there they tried to intimidate the soldiers sometimes like hey why are you doing that etc? and how they felt "brave" at times and wanted to take part in the struggle u know? ;) lol but they also kept their cool..they met alot of strong muslims there masha'allah..young boys too..and heard diff stories from the palis living there etc and got to witness the tension etc..masha'allah..they really enjoyed the trip.

anyways to answer your q re the passport... :) well...the israeli guy i guess kissed up to them b/c they're americans...and he was being nice and noticed the diff stamps from diff muslim countries on their passports like saudia, pak etc..so he told them if he stamped their passports they'll have a hard time so instead he'll just stamp a separate sheet of paper which they can put in their passport and then take out later.. :) it was cool.. :)

i sooo want to go there insha'allah! bi idhnillah one day. :)

i definitely think that we should match the american zionists and become american muslim settlers and migrate in large numbers to jerusalem and other parts of pali and take over the jewish settlers or the jewish zone.. :)

can't remember that many details since it's been awhile lol..too bad you couldn't ask him.. :)
wa salaamu alaikum wr wb :)

Yep that's what I've heard. An Isreali stamp in your passport and its virtually impossible to get into a Muslim country after.

Well these days, Jordan , Morocco & Egypt (at least) will let you in no prob.  The state of israel is recognized officially by those three.

However, the israelis do let visitors in with temp passports, issued primarily for this purpose of accommodating visitors who might travel to other countries that don't recognize the state of israel. I happenned to visit my aunts and uncles in Palestine in summer 94 ( I visited Jerusalem for a day while I was there and was awe struck by its beauty) I wanted to visit the rest of my relatives in Jordan afterwards, however I forgot and did not ask the israeli immigration officer not to stamp my canadian passport at the airport.  I could have requested another temp passport from the embassy in tel aviv but due to time constraints I changed my plans and returned home.  Just 2 weeks after that, Jordan signed an agreement with israel recognizing it and allowing for visitors from both sides to hop back and forth!
