as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllahi wa barakatuh,

My brother is interested in studying in Syria for the summer.  Does anyone know of any good programs there?  Any personal experiences, contact info, anything?

Jazak Allahu khayran.

wasalaam.

i think mauritania's hyped just b/c a certain individual went there and found it 'fascinating'.

syria......sure, lots of ppl recommend it...there are various places i suppose...umm..if u can't get info elsewhere i could ask mom...it crossed our mind before..

as-Salaamu 'Alaikum,

I've heard of a few brothers going to Syria, and as you probably know your brother has to be extremely careful because there is a lot of deviation going on there.  I remember seeing some information on www.islaam.com about Syria, but when I went back it said:

At this stage, we'd rather recommend going to Egypt to study at Fajr institute: http://www.fajr.com/
[/quote]

Maybe your brother will want to check that out.

was-Salaamu 'Alaikum.

PacificBreeze, true!  But read that article, and I think you'll agree that it does live up to the hype :)

OK I have a question for everyone too...a brother wants to take a year off to study Islam (and I guess with that Arabic)...He's gonna be 25, and would like to know where he could do that for a year...of course the place should have a good rep and normally offer such yearly programs of study to outsiders...

Any of y'all have any suggestions?...I know you've listed some places, but most of them are for a few months...this bro wants for one year of study in Islam and Arabic...can be anywhere...
