[color=Blue]SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES

GEORGE MONBIOT[/color] was born in 1963. He has been named by the Evening Standard as one of the 25 most influential people in Britain. 'Captive State', his critically acclaimed book about the corporate takeover of Britain, was published in September 2000. He is also the author of investigative travel
books Poisoned Arrows, Amazon Watershed and No Man's Land.
In Britain he started the campaign against mahogany imports, joined the direct action movement against road building and founded The Land is Ours campaign. He writes a column for the Guardian and has presented a number of documentaries and series on BBC2, Channel 4 and Radio 4. He was the first British journalist to draw attention to the hazards of genetic engineering in the national press.

He is a Visiting Professor at the Department of Philosophy in Bristol, an
Honorary Professor at the Department of Politics in Keele and a Visiting
Professor at the Department of Environmental Science at the University of
East London. From 1993 to 1995 he was a Visiting Fellow of Green College,
Oxford. In 1995 Nelson Mandela presented him with a United Nations Global
500 Award for outstanding environmental achievement.

[color=Blue]HAMZA YUSUF HANSON[/color] was born in Walla Walla, Washington and raised in Northern California. He became Muslim in 1977 in Santa Barbara, California and subsequently moved to the Middle East and studied Arabic and Islam for four years in the United Arab Emirates and later in Madina, Algeria,
Morocco, and West Africa.
He received teaching licenses in various Islamic subjects from several well-known scholars in those countries. After a ten year sojourn of studies abroad, he returned to the United States and took degrees in Nursing from Imperial Valley College and Religious Studies at San Jose State University. He is the co-founder of Zaytuna Institute, which is dedicated to the revival of traditional study methods and sciences of Islam.
He has translated several classical texts from Arabic and presently teaches
at Zaytuna Institute in Hayward, California.

Car Parking: Public Car parks operate in Abingdon Street, Horseferry
Road and Rochester Row on weekdays. Ample free street parking is usually
available after 6.30pm week nights and most weekends.

Typical London Buses again, don't see any scholars for ages and then.......

You're kidding me right? I can't believe it! Subhanallah this always seems to happen. Last summer we had 9 conferences happening at the same time over one weekend!
