Who Luvs Palestine?

Salaam 'Alaikum

I love Palestine, the land, the people, and I pray that someday Islam will return to the land, with the justice and peace for *all humankind* that is inherent in a true Islamic system.  Ana bidu Falasteena Islamiya!

[[I've just been on an extra Pro Falasteen lately, and I just came here from a discussion on an AOL board where someone was spreading the most hurtful and disgusting propaganda about the Fali people, and my heart was on fire!]]

Allah granted me the blessing and pleasure of visiting the land of Palestine and Bayt-ul-Maqdis, albeit for a short time.

Your post reminded me of that visit and the memories flood the mind.

Of course when we speak of Palestine, al-Quds comes to mind first. Indeed, for good reason; the day I spent in Jerusalem counts among the most memorable days of my life. Standing in the same place where it is believed that 1400 years ago our Prophet Muhammad [saw] led all the other Prophets AS in a jamaah unlike any other. Passing by the site where Umar ibn Khattab RA showed this ummah and the world the true meaning of religious tolerance. And then walking the same roads which were rivers of blood in 1099. Running your fingers along bulletholes in the granite of Masjid-al-Aqsa. A visit to Jerusalem evokes intense feelings of joy and sadness simultaneously.

But beyond that, who could ever forget the beauty of the land itself? Its landscape, dominated by gardens and the same trees which once sheltered and supported our mother Maryam AS in her time of need, bearing fruit almost sublime to the taste.

The visual delights of its greenery, its gentle breeze, the almost palpable feeling of the presence of Allah in its valleys, through which Sulayman AS marshalled the ranks of men, Jinn and birds. One begins to understand why since the beginning of mankind civilization after civilization have come to this land and made it their home. One beings to understand why all those who live there love it so dearly.

The soul shudders as one stands before the Dead Sea, its still silence an everlasting testament to the destruction of a people who rejected Allah SWT and his Prophet Lut AS. And yet the soul finds tranquility amidst the majestic mountains of the Golan, gazing at the Sea of Galillee down below, looking upon a land where through the hands of Prophet Isa AS by Allah, a bird came alive from simple clay, its descendants no doubt regaling our ears still today with their sweet song.

How could one forget such a place? Where many of our Prophets strove to deliver the message of Tawheed and serving our Creator by serving our fellow man. Where our spiritual mothers and fathers struggled for generations trying to follow and implement this message? And where our brothers and sisters today cry out for help from an ummah that claims to be the heir of the spiritual legacy of the Prophets who walked in this very same land?

If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
Let my right hand forget its skill.
Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth if I don't remember you,
If I don't consider Jerusalem above my greatest joy.
(Psalms 137:5-6)

Assalam,
Just now reading this. I LOVE PALESTINE!!:)
I LOVE the weather, the beautiful sites, meeting new people who are visting from the states. I love it when I wake up to the call to prayer(even though the guy's voice comes on the speaker about 5:00 in the morning-but it's worth it).My favorite thing is sitting on the stairs of my grandma's house and just watching people walk/drive by.I LOVE the food. Walking down Ramallah and smelling all the tasty food. "SIGH" You can tell I miss Palestine. We were suppose to go in the summer of 2000 but my grandma came to visit. Then we were suppose to go this summer-but, hmmm, now we can't unless those dumb jews(aka:savage beasts/murders/hilter followers) stop killing those innocent Palestines who want nothing but there land and freedom back. Excuse me my blood presure is rising. Anywho, I been to Palestine in 1998 and 1999 and when I was 2. It is one of the beautiful, historic countries that I ever been to so far. I CANNOT wait until we go there, inshallah, sometime soon.:):):)

Assalam,
Thanks Saleema!
I'm...AHEM...banned from the computer at home. He-He,long story:

It all started in the summer of 1999, a few weeks before me and my father left to Palestine. My cousin(Nasrien) from New Jersey called and was telling me her cousin(Malal)was there. Malal's cousin *Yasmeen* was staying with Malal. (Malal is from New Jersey, but she got married in 1997 to an arab guy in Palestine and she's now living there.) Okay, Nasrien HATES Malal and her family(their fathers are brothers and they own and live in an apartmen building. In 1998, when my family and Nasrien's family were in Palestine, all I ever heard come out of her mouth was bad stuff about Malal. I thougt at the time Nasrien was just jealous. Anywho, back to 1999, I met Malal two days after I got to Palestine. First I met her cousin *Yasmeen* who was born and raised in Flordia and still lives there with her family. She to was visiting Palestine for 2 months. Then I met Malal. She was nice and I had fun with her. Little did I know what a fake she was. Okay, check this out; She is married, had a 1yr.old kid at the time, and was 3 weeks pregant. I notice everytime we went somewhere, her eyes would wonder. She finally admitted to me and *Yasmeen* that she goes out with other guys!!! OKAY!! First of all Malal's husband is VERY strict and doesn't let Malal go out unless his mom is with her or someone in his family. Second if he EVER found out he could easily kill her. Well, after she told us this me and Yasmeen were freaking out,we were yelling, Yasmeen was more mad then me cause she's staying with her. TO make a  long story short. We just told her stop seeing those guys before you get all of us in trouble. A month later, me and my dad came back to Missouri, Malal and her daughter and her grandfather went to New Jersey to visit and so Malal can have her baby there, and *Yasmeen* went back to Flordia. Me and Yasmeen contined to stay in touch. The thing with Malal and the guys was kind of worrying us. One day in Feb. of 2000,we decided to 3-way Malal. But Yasmeen was gonna stay quiet on the other line so Malal won't know she was on. I talked to Malal like everything was cool. I got her to talk about ALL the guys she's been seeing, when and where she goes to meet them, what the guys names were, what she talks about to them, etc. The whole time, me and Yasmeen were recording the converstation. WE DID THIS SO IF SARA GETS CAUGHT OR IF WE GET IN A FIGHT WITH HER, SHE CAN'T GO AROUND SAYING IT WAS ME AND YASMEEN OUT WITH THOSE GUY. Well after I finished talking to her, I said bye and hung up. Then me and Yasmeen started talking about what we did, then all of a sudden, we heard Malal say-"I can't belive you guys" Before she said anything else Yasmeen hung up. YASMEEN DIDN'T SHUT THE 3-WAY PROPERLY!! Well, stupid us, we told Yasmeen's uncle about the tape, who thought it was funny, and he decided to tell my aunt(who lives in flordia), well she told my mom. And my mom was mad. My mom is very modest and is always worried about her rep. and she didn't want people to talk. So she basically told me I could't have no contact with Yasmeen because she's an "bad influence" and she banned me from the computer.

Does this really make sense? It's hard explaining a story in writing/typing.

Anyway, I try to get on the computer when I can.And I still think me and Yasmeen did the right thing. We were just protecting ourselves. Also, there is a lot to this story. I would love to read any comments/remarks on this story.

Ukhti:

Subhan'Allah, I understand trying to protect  yourself, especially if someone is going around with men and you think there is a good chance that others will say it was you, but...

spying is totally haram fil Islam, ukhti!

"O you who believe!  Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin.  And do not spy on each other nor speak ill of each other behind their backs.  Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother?  No, but you would detest it;  but fear Allah, for Allah is oft-Returning, Most Merciful." (49:12)

Allah's Apostle (sallalahu aleyhi wa salaam) said, "Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is the worst of false tales. and do not look for the others' faults, and do not do spying on one another, and do not practice Najsh, and do not be jealous of one another and do not hate one another, and do not desert (stop talking to) one another. And O, Allah's worshipers! Be brothers!" (Bukhari)

Make Taubah to Allah subhannahu wa ta'ala.  You should ask Manal to forgive you for backbiting her and taping her in secret like that.  Even though it will be a hard thing to do.  And if you do have a reason to be concerned, then just don't hang around with her.  You told your mom what happened right?  If so, then she knows that it isn't you  hanging around with guys.

Hey all you lovers of Palestine...

April 7th is Land Day, and it is also a day or two before the anniversary of the massacre at Deir Yassein.  Al Awda and Islamic Association for Palestine are co-sponsoring a massive rally and march in NYC.  Featured speakers include Mazzin al Najjar, the Muslim (Palestinian) professor who was just released in Dec. after 3 yrs in prison on "secret evidence."

There are also Land Day / Commemoration events planned in other cities around the country and the world.  Go to www.al-awda.org for more information.
