| As salamu alaika wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh Hello brothers and sisters- Thank you for the welcome- I wanted to write you all to get your input into some of the connections i have drawn between traditional customs in native america, and traditional customs as are acceptable according to hadiths for the ummah from arabia. something that a muslim once showed me was having to do with the 99 names of allah subhanna allah. on everyone's hands are the numbers 1 and 8 in arabic. the two hands together are 99. whether this has anything to do with the recitation of 33 times each, subhanna allah, hamdu lillah, and allahu akbar after rakat i do not know. but what i can tell you all, in terms of connections to what i have discovered in my research of the aztec, or meso american calendar is that they too felt that the number 99 reflected a divine nature. Mathematically the number 9 can be multiplied infinitely while the numbers that make up the product can be added to make 9 again. Mathematical calculations were noteable among arabs who spread their knowledge to the later European tribes via africa and cultural outposts. the meso americans also kept a calendar that utilized the calobration of many celestial events to determine agricultural and social events. every 99 moons, the earth will have revolved around the sun 8 times, venus will have revolved 5 times, which corresponds to the number of fingers minus the thumbs for the earth, and plus the thumbs for venus. the hands acted as a sort of calendar keeper, as the hands and toes were used to count the months, of 20 days. In many ancient meso american towns, adultery and alcohol consumptions were prohibited, the young went through schools on how to respect parents and each other, and how to contribute to the community. my muslim name kamar akbal khan also reflects the fact that akbal and khan are native mayan words as well, meaning akbal-house and khan or kaan-jade, sky. i think that islam has been one of the more tolerant religions in the history of the world in terms of allowing peoples who come under islamic rule to practive their beliefs so long as they are not against the tenets of islam. while i admit that many of the meso american people began to worship idols,and go astray from the path of allah ta' allah, at one point in time, a messenger was sent to my people, who showed them a straigt road. It is this road i want to uncover for the coming waive of mexican/meso american young ones, to bring them back from both the destructive western societal values and the facade of what is commonly believed to be meso american, but is really paganistic. shookran for your responses and As salamu alaika |

I am very intrigued in what you're trying unearth masha'Allah. Dr Abdullah Hakim Quick did a very good thesis on Pre-Columbian America and the Muslims titled 'Deeper Roots'. I pray that we are able to benefit from you more as you discover more. wlm :) |

hmm i know of the south american story of the 2 brothers who were told by god to go on a journey in the desert and that he would make them a powerful nation but it was a long time ago i know that the spirit people are jinn created before humans by the creator |

| Assalamu alaikum, Welcome Kamar, it is indeed fascinating to note all the various things cultures worldwide have in common with Islam - I guess, it goes to show messengers were sent to all nations before many of them went astray and Islam's here to guide us all again. :) |
