Is this a kind of  shirk?

Assalamu Alaikum

is this a kind of shirk:  doing acts of worships to feel at peace, rather than to worship Allah(swt)?Of course by worshipping Allah(swt) you will find the best peace in the world.i don't know how to explain it,but like doing acts of worships  selfishly with the primary reason being to brings you peace, rather than the primary reason of your acts of worships being to glorify the One who deserves all praises?

Maybe i am missing something...

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah,

Bro I can't answer your question, but I came across this dua...

Supplication for fear of shirk

Allahumma innee a'oodhoobeka unn ooshreeka beka wa anna a'alamu wa astaghferooka lema laa'alamu.

O Allah, I take refuge in You lest I should commit shirk with You knowingly, and I seek Your forgiveness for what I do unknowingly.

Ameen.

wasalaamu alaykum.

[slm]...There are lots alhamdulillah...
Ones that come to mind are Fiqh-us-Sunnah Vol. IV (Funerals and Dhikr), Remembrance and Prayer by Muhammad al-Ghazali (no transliteration, just Arabic text, but really good book), Selected Prayers by Jamal Badawi, and the Qur'an and Sunnah Society has a very good one entitled "Authentic Supplications of the Prophet", which I believe is still online at their website (http://www.qss.org)...
I think all of these are great...

And Allah knows best...

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah,

Hisnul Muslim: Fortification of the Muslim through remembrance and supplication from the Qu'raan and the Sunnah, compiled and referenced by Sa'eed ibn 'Ali Wahf al-Qahtaani

... is a big title for a little book :)  It's an awesome pocket-size book that has different dua's you can say in various situations, like when it rains, when you lose something, when traveling, when afflicted with doubt etc.  It's pretty cheap too, you can probably get one for like $2-3.  I found it for $1 at ISNA [!], so I bought a whole bunch and gave em to people :)  It's not transliterated though..

One of the books that br abdul basir mentioned, Selected Prayers by Jamal Badawi, does have transliteration from what I can remember.

Hope that helps inshaAllah :)

wasalaam.
