Asalaamu Alaikum ;-)

So here we are then: British Summer Time

Images of those long summer days and even longer summer evenings and those late night Ishas. Echoes of early morning birds chirping as you make your way to Fajr whilst everyone is still fast asleep.

Can someone please tell me why the heck its still FREEZING over here then!!!!!

No wonder the foot and mouth virus won't die! Apparently we've only had 5 hours of sunshine in the last 5 days or so!

Wasalaam

walsalamu alaykum wa rhmat Allah wa barakatuhu

*lol* ..alhamdulillah for every situation bro

subhan Allah the weather is still *winterish* in canada - well for the places that should be *springish* ....its almost april and it was snowing today? - subhan Allah:-)

ok someone correct me if i'm wrong but this cold weather partly has to do with the La Nina Southern Oscillation event.  i think almost everyone has heard of the El Nino event, where it contributes to warmer weather across the globe.  La Nina works in a similar way, but it lowers temperatures across the globe. El Nino and La Nina events tend to last about 3 yrs each and happen right after each other, although lately,  the El Nino event tends to last longer than 3 yrs partially due to the effect of global warming.

if u want me to go into further detail just ask:-)

pls take care and think *sunny* thoughts:-)

Today I got soaked in the rain, and I mean completely - wisely I had left the brolly at home.
but remember when it rains its a good time to make Dua

More rain please  8-)

p.s. we reckon it might be raining on the day of the QM dinner, adds more spice to the pie eh!

slm,

the US came about cause of Britian.. the US influences the rest of the world, and become the wealthiest and one of the most corrupted and immoral (not all, but a general characteristic of the west).. so um.. call it a truce? ;-D

Asalaamu Alaikum ;-)

Fair comment Br meraj ;-)

I'm not sure you guys realise how much of an American influence there actually is over here. I mean it covers all things from the news coverage we get to the myriad of TV programmes you send us.

Day to day I hear people say things like:

"That's it: period"  or

"Its your call"

Brits used to say "That's it: full stop" and "Its your decision"

People nowadays wear baseball caps (some Muslims even pray with them on) and say things like "dude"

Just a few observations of mine ;-)

But it does show how powerful the media can be.

lol

Nothing at all

But there are still some circles in this country where if you said "What's happening dude?", you'd get a long blank stare. ;-)

What can I say some Brits are very...errmmm...British!

Let me give you guys an example to show you what I mean.

I work for a quite traditional British company and the other week I happened to use the adjective kickin' in a sentence.

You should have seen the look of surprise I received from some people! ;-)

I can't even begin to think what reaction I would get if I walked in and said "Yo, what's happening dudes?"

I'll think I'll stick with the tried and tested "Wasn't the weather awful yesterday?" ;-)

umm ok if you say that, then you'll def get some weird looks.. its just sooo... um... well, just dont say it :) more appropriate would be [ahem]: 'yo wassup' or 'hey dude wassup'... got it? good :)

It just wouldn't sound right if Kashif started saying, "Yo wassup" or "Dude".  Something would be terribly wrong. :)

So here we are then: Greenwich Mean Time aka British Winter Time

Images of those short dark winter days and even longer winter evenings and those early night Maghribs. Echoes of cars hurtling past as you make your way to Fajr whilst everyone is desperately trying to get to work!!

Well actually its not until Sunday night but I thought I'd give a helpful reminder to everyone to change their clocks on Sunday night ;-)

Sheesh where has the summer gone this year ???
