Israfil is responsible for blowing the trumpet before the Day of Judgment.  He is on guard, ready, and waiting for the Command to come from Allah (SubHana Wa Ta`ala ) to blow the trumpet.  In one hadith of Rasulullah (Peace Be Upon Him ), he has already pulled the trumpet close to his mouth, and the day is not far when he blows in it.

When Israfil blows on the trumpet, a horrific sound will be produced - a sound so loud and painful that nobody in the Universe will be able to withstand it.  It will cause the collapse of the entire Universe, and everything within it.  All creatures will die, including human beings, jinn and angels.  After he blows the trumpet, nothing will remain except Allah and Israfil.  Then Allah himself will take out the soul of Israfil, and he too will die.

Then Allah (SubHana Wa Ta`ala ) will ask out loud, "Who does the dominion belong to?"  And no answer will come.  He will ask this three times.  And then He will resurrect Israfil.  Israfil will then blow on the trumpet again, and all mankind will be resurrected for Accountability.

This is what I remember from my Sunday School days.

Wallahu a'lam.

Assalam ualykum,

Now no one make fun of me ok? These may be silly or even stupid questions but I think about them sometimes.

In Heaven, if I wanted to touch Angel Gibrael's (A) wings coul I do that? Or could I hold conversations with Angel Israfeal? Or shake Prophet Muhammad (S)'s hand? Or play basketball with Adam (A)? I mean anything you can imagine in heaven and ask for it will be granted right? Will there be certain halal/haram rules there too?

Now don't laugh! :)
:)
ps BE NICE  :)

wassalam
and I love everyone   :)

this is what I wanted to post before, but then I accidentally deleted br Arsalan's post. :(

as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllah,

This is off topic but I wanted to add some stuff to what br Arsalan said.
All creatures will die, including human beings, jinn and angels.
the verse says, and when the horn will be blown, everything in the heavens and on earth will collapse, except what Allah wills.

there are different interpretations as to who/what this exception is... some say it is Musa alayhis salaam, some say it is the angels, some say the shuhada, and there are others.
Then Allah (SubHana Wa Ta`ala ) will ask out loud, "Who does the dominion belong to?"  And no answer will come.
Limanil mulkul yawm?
To whom belong sovereignty now?

and He, azza wajal, will answer Himself:

Lillahi Wahidul Qahhar.
To Allah, the One, the Irrisistable.

you want to play basketball with gradndfather adam?!
man he's way too tall!

hmm regarding angels wings they may actually be wings or the functions/duties of the angel

i think angels and humans wouldn't really understand one another look back through the hadith the angels have never fully understood humans

and different prophets had different behaviour
the prophet said my brother moses had his right eye covered (eg he was worldly) and my brother isa had his left eye covered (eg he was otherworldly) but both my eyes are open

and if you look at the hadith remember how well
musa (walasalaam) understood human frailty...maybe adam (wa) prefers cricket! *lol*

I always wondered if women will be wearing hijab in jannah.  Since there is no fitna in jannah and everyone is under Allah's protection and mercy, I guess there would be no purpose for it?

as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllah,

I think we're thinking about jannah too literally.  Like it's just this place where we're going to chill after we die (inshaAllah).. but it's not.. it's a different world/universe/dimension/reality..

I remember learning something that Abdullah ibn Abbas said, he said that the only similiarity between the fruits of this world and the fruits of jannah are in the name.  Meaning that jannah is a completely different reality, with different dimensions and laws and capabilities than we have here.  Meaning that whatever comprehension of things we have is limited to our three dimensional perspectives of things... life in the barzakh, the day of resurrection, and the hereafter are going to be so different from the the nature of the world as we know it here... they exist, they are real, but they have characterestics and possibilities that are completely unknown to us.

So it's like anything we use in our limited three dimensional world to describe *that* world will be inadequate, even using the word 'fruit'.. because it's beyond anything we can comprehend..

I don't know if I'm makin any sense here but I remember a hadeeth..

Allah has prepared for those in Jannah what no eyes have ever seen, no ears have ever heard and no heart has ever felt.

so rest assured it is indeed worth it :)

wAllahu 'alam..

wasalaamu alaykum.

assalam alaikum,

I don't know if the mention of the veil here is symbolic of purity but interesting nonetheless....

It was narrated that Anas ibn Maalik (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: ‘Going out and coming back for the sake of Allaah is better than this world and all that is in it. And a spot the size of the bow of one of you in Paradise – or a spot the size of his whip – is better than this world and all that is in it. If a woman from among the people of Paradise were to look at the people of this earth, she would light up all that is in between them and fill it with fragrance. The veil on her head is better than this world and all that is in it.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 2587)

And as for meeting/seeing others :)......

Book 40, Number 6790:

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The inmates of Paradise would see the inmates of the apartment over them just as you see the shining planets which remain in the eastern and the western horizon because of the superiority some have over others. They said : Allah's Messenger, would in these abodes of Apostles others besides them not be able to reach? He said: Yes, they will, by Him, in Whose hand is my life, those who believe in God and acknowledge the Truth, will reach them.

The hadith mentioned by se7en about "no eyes has ever seen...." was followed by the Quranic verse 32:17 "No soul knows what joy is kept hidden for them" and we're told to recite this as much as possible. Its such a simple yet meaningful and reassuring verse. Its one of my favourites and provides a source of comfort and hope(for me anyway!) in times of hardship.

Surely, there is no harm in pondering of the paradise that Allah has prepared for His righteous servants.  Actually, to imagine that you are touching Angel Jibreel's wing or shaking the hand of the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, is encouraging and motivates me (at least) to strive in the deen of Islam so that those dreams will actually become a reality, insha'Allah.

se7en-You first say that we're thinking about jannah too literally and then you say our minds are not capable of imagining the paradise Allah has prepared.  We imagine paradise the way we can (even if that's literally) because our minds are only capable of so much imagination (as you implied).  Of course, what paradise is is beyond our minds, worlds, intellects-so, we ponder in the only manner in which we are capable of.  Just thought I would share those thoughts-didn't mean to offend if I did.

May Allah grant us all everlasting happiness in the garden of paradise!!! Amin!
