| Assalamualaikum, I am wondering if any of you have taken courses through AOU. They offer bachelors in Islamic studies. Also comment on how useful do you find the courses and how efficient is the administration. Jazak Allah Khair |

| AA My wife took a course on Aqeedah. Course was VERY useful, administration was ok considering it was distance learning. I would highly recommend it. |

| slm Just wondering, but what are the cost of these courses? How do they administer the exams? One can earn a degree completely though distance learning? ??? |

| as-Salaamu 'Alaykum, The school is now physically located in Villanova, Pennsylvania right outside of Philadelphia at the Foundation for Islamic Education. And right next to Villanova University (woohoo!). I have friends who have taken advanced Arabic classes as a correspondence course. It's pretty tough, so don't let the distance-learning part fool you. My friend was writing essays and stuff in Arabic and then the professor would call him up at a certain time and ask him questions. And he would get the material through the mail. That was a while ago though (2 years), and I'm pretty sure a lot of stuff has changed. I'm not too sure about the bachelor program though, I would say take a good look at not only the curriculum but who teaches the curriculum. The school has a big Saudi influence as well (not saying that's good or bad, just saying it). Take care, Zubaid Kazmi |
