LECTURES: MONDAY, APRIL 16 @ 7pm: "Oppression in Iraq" Dr. Rania Masri -Coordinator of the Iraq Action Coaltion -National board member of Education for Peace in Iraq Center Evans Laboratory, Room 1008 TUESDAY, APRIL 17 @ 7pm: "Oppression in the United States" Sidi Hakim Archuletta -Native American social activistwith experience from Berkeley to North Africa to Europe to the Indian Subcontinent Hitchcock Hall, Room 131 WEDNESDAY, APRIL 18 @ 7pm: "The Dilemma of Stereotyping and Prejudice at OSU" Student Panel Discussion Hale Cultural Center, MLK Lounge THURSDAY, APRIL 19 @ 5pm: "What is the REAL situation in the Holy Land? A Discussion on the Injustices Occurring in Palestine" Mohammad Asi -renowned Palestinian social activist Lazenby Hall, Room 160 The Muslim Students Society at Ohio State is conducting a series of events April 16-20 to promote awareness and activism with regard to oppressive situations around the world. It will be a five-day event consisting of exhibition style presentations on different countries including, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, Sudan, and the United States. The event will focus primarily on Muslim-populated countries, but the thematic focus of each component of the week’s activities will be justice for all humanity. In addition to the exhibitions, which will be on display Oval, the MSA will be holding four lectures. A discussion of the Palestinian situation will be presented by Muhammad Asi, a renowned social activist from Washington, D.C. Speaking about Iraq will be Dr. Rania Masry, the coordinator of the Iraq Action Coalition, and highly referenced source on the humanitarian disaster in Iraq. She is also a national board member of Peace Action and the Education for Peace in Iraq. Sidi Hakim Archuletta, a social activist with experience from Berkeley to North Africa to Europe to the Indian Subcontinent, will be presenting a portrait of oppression in the United States. Finally, we will also present a student panel discussion which is cosponsored by Asian American Student Services, discussing stereotypes about Ohio State students of various races and ethnicities.
