Rihla and Arabic Intensive

From an email:

A bit more on the Rihla program at Zaytuna Institute in Hayward CA in July 2001.  Please pass  it on to those who are interested.

Zaytuna is holding a two day conference beginning on Sat. June 30 ending on Sun. July 1.  The Rihla would officially get started on July 2. However, I am leaning heavily on the side of deciding to incorporate the Conference into the Rihla. That means students would arrive in Hayward beginning on Fri. June 29 or early Saturday June 30. Our team on the ground would pick them up from the airport, get them settled at Zaytuna, meals will be taken care of etc. for those two days.

The program would end sometime during the week of Monday July 23...most likely Tues. 24 or Wed. 25 of July.

At this time I don't have a limit on the number of applicants I can accept. I am leaning on the side of making it larger than Fez and Spain where we had 130 students. This is the Rihla that will define future Rihlas Inshaa Allah.

Topics are not finalized either and will be determined on the basis of the age and background of the students.

Teachers:
Shaykh Hamza
Shaykh Abdallah Al-Kadi
Shaykh Mohammad Al-Ya`qoubi
Shaykh Said Ramadan Al-Buti (one week)
Shaykh Abdullah Bin Bayyah (two weeks)

Needless to say that with the last two Shuyukh Shaykh Hamza will be translating those sessions.

There will be physical exercise in the morning, hiking. Some martial arts. Not for the full program.

There will be two tours. I may decide to put this at the end of the program and make it optional. The incentive to get students to participate will be to have Shaykh Hamza lead it. Smile.

We will have
Fiqh Shafi', Hanafi, Maliki.
Tajwid
Ihsan
Law of Inheritance (Ar-Rahbiyyah)

No Arabic.
The traditional Arabic component will be handled by a separate Arabic Intensive which Ahson mentioned in his email. We are trying to finalize the dates...

Teachers to include:
Sidi Waleed Mossad
Sidi Abdul Hadi Honnerkamp
Sidi Anwar Al-Muhaimin (to be determined on the basis of the number of students participating)
Imam Faisal Abu Jihad
Shaykh Hamza for a few days to speak to us about the history of the Arabic language.

If the response is weak, so weak that it is not feasible to do it, I may cancel it. The cost of the Arabic Intensive will be kept at a minimum.

pacific breeze sis, did you mean this one?
(i got it in an email and was gonna post a new thread today, but just saw this summer programs thread...)

The al-Rihla Summer Program 1422/2001
to be held in Hayward, CA, at the Zaytuna Institute

The al-Rihla Summer Program will take place in Hayward, California from June 30, 2001 to July 21, 2001, for a total of 21 teaching days at the Zaytuna Institute in Hayward, California, USA. Applications are open from April 1, 2001 until May 25, 2001 to both brothers and sisters.

The al-Rihla Program is sponsored by the Zaytuna Institute (USA) in cooperation with Ihya Productions (Canada).

"WHY SHOULD I ATTEND?" The spirit of our tradition as transmitted by the Prophet Muhammad - Allah bless him and give him peace - and his successors, is based on an approach to teaching and learning that connects the seeker of knowledge to its sacred origin. The approach of the al-Rihla program is rooted in the authentic narration known as the Jibril Hadith. This narration acts as a basis for the three dimensional approach to our tradition which will be the core focus of the program: islam (fundamentals of action), iman (fundamentals of belief), and ihsan (spiritual excellence). It has been our experience that these programs act as a means for students to re-connect themselves with the rich tradition of Islam that is so lacking in the societies we live in today.

THE APPLICATION FORM AND DETAILED INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND HERE:

jazak Allah khair ;)
