| ditto asim! the board is growing, not just in members but also in the # of posts posted per day/hour/minute! i think pretty soon, i'm going to confine myself to only a couple of forums! i've already started actually. the last time i checked the british souq was like a month ago... good luck on giving up the addiction! if there are any success stories, please email 'em to me :) |

| Asalaamu Alaikum ;-) Most of the time I check out the forums in the following order, making a mental note, of the threads in which I want to reply to: 1422 Hijrah Way The British Souq All Things Albanyia Apartment Complex Dar Al-Hikmah Media Center International House of Kabob Ikhwan Health Club Akhwat Cafe for Sisters The Oasis Shahadah Bookstore Al-Taqwa Masjid & Library Ummah Community Center Madrasatul Ilm Bebzi Stand There definitely is a danger of not "adding value" when you post but I guess we all have to keep our intention in mind when we post. On the flip side though, there are times when there are lots of good discussions and threads going on that it becomes virtually impossible to post in all of them!!! There must be a happy medium somewhere……..;-) |

| slm, ok well i knew a little bit of perl a while back.. i havent played with it much so i've forgotten some of it.. but in that block of code some of the lines are commented out so what you really have to work with is just: [quote]if($lp eq "" ) { $lp="N/A"; } $dlp = &readlog("$curboard" ) ; $new="" ; if($dlp ne "$lp" && $lp ne "N/A" && $username ne "Guest" ) { $new = "<img src=\"$imagesdir/new.gif\" width=28 height=11 alt=\"New\">"; }[/quote] and that doesnt tell you much :( its just comparing variables in an if statement... to understand it you would have to look at the whole script at once i would think. |

| wlm, you know its the oddest thing..i think this is a Y2K1 bug!! it started after we hit 2001 january... 01 in the year i think it's comparing dates and is getting confused i just can't figure out how the 1st of each month plays into this??? |

| slm, hmm.. i see.. thats interesting... im thinking it might have somethign to do with the fact that the server deals with dates and times all in numbers.. it wouldnt know the difference between 'janaury' and 'wednesday'... so im guessing it may be possible that its messing up something having to do with how its working with those raw numbers like you said but i cant think of a reason as to why its messing up the new tag procedure specifically on the 1st of each month ??? ok sorry thats no help... i still think it would be worthwhile to upgrade the whole board ;) but iz all good.. whatever floats your boat ;-D |
