| [slm], Does any one know of the top of his/her head how many rukuhs and ayats the Qur'an contain in total? I counted them yesterday and want to know if I counted them right! Wassalam Eqbal |

BTW, is there a place on the web where these trivia can be found. These questions come up frequently and often we don't know them (yeah, we knew them when we were in elementary school, but those days are long gone ;)). Wasalaam. |

| also, one of the website I saw today says no of verses in the Qur'an = 6346 and another said 6236. wassalam Eqbal |

| salaam, yeah, you'll also find some sites that say the # is 6666. I actually sat down with a Quran (yusuf ali) and counted the number, it was 6236. what are rukuhs? |

| [quote]what are rukuhs?[/quote] [slm] Look in a lot of mushafs and at the end of a group of ayahs there is the letter "ayn"...this breaks up the surahs into sections for recitation...i.e after v. 7 in Surah Baqarah you will see the ayn, making it 2:1-7 "section 1"... At least that's what I thought rukuhs were...And Allah knows best... [slm] |

| [slm] yeah, br. AbdulBasir is right. That's what I mean by rukuh. Also when reciting the Qur'an in salat , those are the places you ccan make rukuh. I think I might count the rukuhs again, I counted them and I think they should be close to 555 or 556 ;-). Now don't ask why two different nos, it probably means I have to count again!
