jazakillahu khairan for responding sis jannah, but i'm referring to a particular outfit this one sister created...a total islamic bathing suit..something akin to a surfer's suit but loose, if i remember correctly...i know this was all over the place some yrs back...and i think the sis was even selling them..i remem that happening on sisternet..at the time i just thought it was a nifty idea but didn't take particular attention to her address etc..and now a friend of mine is asking me about it...but i don't remem who was behind it?? nor where i could contact her? Ukht Mona, do u know who n what i'm referring to? do you remember? (if ur the sisnet's Mona)

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah,

I think this was brought up before, but no one mentioned an actual store or company that produces them.

You can check out the discussion here.

I remember at one conf Amina Assilmi talking about going water-skiing in waterproof hijab/jilbab :-)

wasalaam.

Assalamu alaikum,

Pacific Breeze, I am sorry for not responding earlier.  It's been a while since I logged on.

Anyways, no I am not the same Mona of sister-net's fame. I know her however.  (And get this, she is also a grad student pursuing her PhD in Biochemistry, in Queen's U mind you! Well she defended very recently)

I will email her and ask.

Wassalam

Salam, ya akhawat...

I don't know whether this is the same bathing suit that we are referring to. But the one available in Singapore, is like a diving, suit... but not that tight, with a hood. Price is about $70-$80 (singapore dollars).

Approximate Exhange rates..
S$1.58 = US$1.00
S$2.26 = 1.00 pounds

But personally... what I do... for sea sports like snorkelling.. believe it or not.. I still wear my knee-length long sleeved T-shirt plus track bottoms (the light shell suit ones) and my hijab still.

Do U wanna order, though?

wassalam

They sell Shari'a bathing suits in Egypt.  I think they cost about $25 US.  But if you want one, you'd better get in contact with any Egyptians you know soon, b/c they sell out very quickly every year, usually around this time (April).  They are extremely popular in Egypt and I wouldn't be surprised if the Turkish hijab fashion chain Tekbir has something similar now.  (You can reach Tekbir in Texas, but I'm sorry, I'm not sure where. I think their site is tekbir.com or you can look on the 'net)
