| slm Does anyone know how to write a good resume, and can someone provide me with examples or pointers on how to write one? maybe there is some website or something that has this? |

| wlm There are many sites on the web that cover resume writing. I have a list of them somewhere and will post them later inshallah. All career web sites have resume writing tips also. Check http://monster.com/ or http://hotjobs.com/. In general, a resume should be concise and highlight the qualities and skills that are most appropriate for the job you are seeking. Some standard sections are: Objective - summary of your career/position goals Education - a listing and maybe a little description of your education Experience - usually a detailed decription of work experience. Highlight the skills and qualities that are most appropriate for your career objective. If you have a lot of experience put this before the education. Also, you can subdivide your experience to better match and highlight your skills. Computer Skills - your computer proficiency Technical Skills - if appropriate list these also Management/Leadership skills - Even if they are voluntary work, employers tend to like this. Honors/Recognitions/Awards Hmm, that's pretty much it! You can look at my resume as an example. Mine, however, is more education centric than experience centric. Good rule is don't state what grades you got in a subject unless you were absolutely above the norm... That gives them more chance to assess you when they give you a interview Seems to work for my brother anyway..he's been able to get every job mashalla he's applied for with really low grades ;^) |
