forget all diets, they dont work, if they did they will stop making money as people wont need them any more.
weight is simple,  consevation of mass principle and conservation of energy.
if you take in more energy then your body can burn, you put on weight. if you are are eatting the correct amount of food for your body you will stay the same weight, less energy you will lose weight. simple!
here is something that isnt simple: if you start eating less with out exersizing more, what happens is your body goes in to "starvation mode", it burns proten instead of fat, this means you will lose very little weight and when you stop youre diet you will put one weight faster then you did before, and the amount of food you can eat with out gaining weight will be reduced. this is because youre body was burning muscle instead of fat during the diet, so now you have less muscle to fed, so your body needs less food.
best method to loss weight is to build muscle, as the muscles need to be feed, so your fat will be used up quicker, as your body needs more energy.
this diet will not be found in any book, as there is no money to be made from it:
eat what ever you want, when ever you want, but:
eat only when hungry, eat only enougth to satisfy your hunger. then stop!
and at the same time burn the fat, move about, conservation of mass principle, matter does not distroy it self, the fat wont disapear if you just leave it there.
no matter how much you move about and exsersize now, do more. cause if your weight is stable with that much exersize it means you are doing the correct amount to keep your weight the same, if you do more you will start to lose, if you do less you will start to gain.
just use your comon sense, if it takes the same amount of fatty food as none fatty food to satisfy hungre, you dont need a diet to know what to eat.

I've found some hadith and quotes from the Qu'ran on this:
The holy prophet (pbuh) is reported as saying
"Allah hates those who eat excessively" (Musnad-ul-Firdaus by Daylami)
"No man fills a vessel worse than his stomach. A few mouthfuls that would suffice to keep his back upright are enough for a man. But if he must eat more, then he should fill one third (of his stomach) with food, one third with drink and leave one third for easy breathing" (Ibn-i-Majah)
" Dissolve your dietary cholesterol through the process of remembrance of Allah and offering of prayers" (Abu Nuayam)
"Don't go to bed immediately after the meals; it will harden your heart. Avoid any hard or large quantum of excercise immediately after meals, it will also cause a damage" (Abu Nuayam)

Bottom line: Don't eat excessively, stop eating when you are full. Pray five times a day with all the supplementary prayers and according to the holy Prophet this is enough "diet and excercise" to live healthily.
