RULES for Who Wants to be a Mu'Min !!!

wlm,
So is this the end of Islamic Jeopardy? That was short-lived...At least Albanyia proved its mettle.
my kids enjoyed islamic jeopardy.. they absolutely LOVE "who wants to be a mu'min"
Maybe we could have teams?  So things are balanced out and fair.  And then each person from the team is required to answer.  People that don't know could pass it off to a team member that hasn't answered?
I don't think we should have teams b/c its too complicated and how would we make a whole team 'mu'mins?'

How about we do this:

Each person has a 50/50, poll the audience and call a friend option.

A question is posted and everyone submits answers through message.

So in answer to the question...

--- You can submit a final answer.

--- Or you can ask for a 50/50 where Regis..err Jannah gives you a multiple choice of 4 answers and tells you which two are not right -- helping narrow down the right answer for you -- then you send your final answer.

--- Or you can say "poll the audience" and Regis will tell you all the answers people posted (but not how many times they occurred). You then send your final answer.

--- Or you can "call a friend" which means you email Regis and say "What is .....blank madina member's answer?". Regis sends it to you and then you see how smart you think the friend is. You then send your final answer.

You can only use the 50/50, "poll the audience", or "call a friend" once during the entire game.

All answers are posted after a certain time period (maybe a week) and everything is tallied up and
the first person to get 10 points WINS the status of Madina Mu'min!!

what do you think :) :)

Just one question ...

Why would I wanna go down to a "Mu'min" when I'm already a Madina 'Aalim??

"Who Wants To Be A SHAHEED!!!"

Now *that* would be an incentive ....

P.S. It would normally take you 2,500 posts to get to the level of Madina Shaheed!

As long as I can get the Madina Newbie questions right I'd be happy!!

Can you imagine the pressure when the Madina Mu'min question comes up? ;)

PS Is this a good time to state that the Brits invented WWTBAM?

peeps it's easssssssssssssssssssssssssssy just answer the question and if you don't know the answer you can:

1. ask for 4 answers (2 of which are eliminated for you)

2. ask for a certain person's answer

3. ask what answers were given so far

(but you can only do 1, 2, and 3 once during the game)

first one to get 10 q's right wins!!

let me know if you have any questions?! we'll start on Friday inshaAllah!

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

Can I be a *geek* instead of a Mu'Min? :) (I still have almost forty posts to go!!)
1. ask for 4 answers (2 of which are eliminated for you)
hmm, what is the purpose of four answers when two are known to be wrong! Maybe just give them four options to choose from. From what I understand there will be no choices when the question is asked? The choices will only be given when this life line is used?
2. ask for a certain person's answer
A person who is also participating in the quiz? Or just anybody on the board?
first one to get 10 q's right wins!!
wow, that will take *at least* ten weeks! By that time I would already be a Shaheed (well maybe not considering the rate at which I am progressing :))

Br. Khalid, no need to bring up that WWTBAM was started in the UK. The brits are losing big time! (quran quiz: USA 3, UK 0, Jeopardy: USA 3, UK 0) :)

How did you do that???

wlm,

well Asim I'm giving you 2 things which are NOT the answers... that should help you out more because they eliminate those as potential answers!!!!

you ask for a person who is participating in the game

10 weeks.. true.. if ur shaheed (madina shaheed :)) by then you can move up to whatever else there is..

Asalaamu Alaikum ;-)

My Tactics for Who Wants to be a Mu'min

1. Use the audience when you know its a simple question but you haven't got a clue yourself

2. Use the 50/50 when you have an inkling but don't want to risk it

3. Use your "friend" if you think that he has some extra knowledge in that field

The last one assumes your friend actually answers correctly and isn't in fact trying to get you to answer incorrectly ;-)
Br Khalid, no need to bring up that WWTBAM was started in the UK

You may jest Br Asim but we'll find out soon enough who is the Weakest Link ;)

PS Do I assume right that the questions will start off easy and then gradually become harder as we approach Week 10?

Do the questions have to be answered without any use of reference material?

This business about phone a friend, where we ask Regis.  I am going to use the phone a friend option every time, and will just ask what did Se7en put down.

I still like the idea of having teams to balance things out.

The rules say that the first person to get 10 points will win.  I think 10 points is asking too much!

I may get question 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 right, and then Asim may get 6, 7, 8 right and Arshad gets 9, 10 right!  So after 10 questions, nobody would have 10 points!

This can go on forever!  Much beyond 10 weeks.

How about making it 5 points instead of 10?  Unless you really want this thing to drag ׾.ǯJ9liqSR䔕= qRg;2>l` wOݙ4,5~ S$q=|;MֺmvV6ү˟* $֥ō_Mpzc#oI^C#ȏ0*, @ qf'vmzqΰ~#JUjF&{98yku߫z>!.@GDMy y++EZb5u )9s[:qlir»?60 ^٪PxED8`"ycft`P90n8NV6%mlm;i}ݭo9.+35˝MNIKyWk>1,V7*2J9m8MjKeagf*ZEBx?26_IfYZ2ˉt~>m9{S VQC1g&u|i. &XMtŸ.aKGݗRIH*MO eRc_:f%؇ 8*chF"q:ԩIhjڭ?ѲxOB9)߲iNc77gdwoDB_mďH%u>e: RULES for Who Wants to be a Mu'Min !!!

bhaloo you can't do that every time cause you only get one "call a friend!!"!!

I think it's a good idea that if we do the 10 weeks and if no one has 10 then the highest scorer wins...

brkhalid good point about the timing.. hmm i would say wednesday or something but all the ppl might not have the answers in by then.. maybe they all wait till thurs night and that poor person that said "poll the audience" or "what's se7en's answer" doesn't get any help

so how bout they still get till fri night for a lifeline just like everyone else, then the answers to the lifeline go out, then those ppl have to immediately answer back --like within a day or two.... then after all that all the results are posted...

Let me get this straight. Friday night is the deadline, everyone must turn in their final answer or opt for a lifeline. If they did not then they have not participated in that quiz. Those using a lifeline get till saturday to reply. Is that right? Why not make the deadline thursday night so that we done with one cycle every friday?

There can be multiple winners for any given week. Is that how it is supposed to be or should we pick one winner based on the time at which they turned in their final answer?

Anyway, it would be fun!

Folks, just a reminder: beware of relying on se7en's answer. She has no incentive to give correct answers (she is already an admin, and she has a jannah.org mail account). She can trick you into a wrong answer ;)

I thought the criterion for getting a jannah.org mail account was to have good moral$. I have been working on that for a while and now the rule gets changed. Not fair.

Nah Br. Asim, they gave me one didn't they?..:)

On that note of self-deprecation, yes this is a friendly competition...It's just that many Albanyians have not appreciated the constant barbs and jokes about Albanyia from the rest of the world...just wanted to give it back to those who constantly dish it out to us...

Nevertheless, this Albanyian will no longer sink down to the level of trash talking and inshallah the rest of us will do the same...:)

But seriously guys, just take part and have a bit of fun and learn some facts about Islam at the same time.

If we can all come out of it having learnt one new thing, then in my eyes it would have been worth it.

I think there should be a handicap for the people who have titles higher than Mu'min. They should get points according to how long it took them to answer. Where for us poor uninformed (but trying to get informed) new Muslims we should get points if we even get the answer right.
Has this made sense?
C'mon Jannah, give us a chance..I want to be a Mu'min too...

I second that. :)

On the instructions you said that the answers have to be submitted by Friday midnight, or, we have to ask for a lifeline. Shouldn't there be a date/time set for the asking of a lifeline so that *all* final answers have to be submitted by Friday midnight? Make sense?
