Islamic Books in England

Assalam-u-Alaikum,

A friend of mine is going to the UK in a while and asked if I wanted anything from there.

I know that there are some books over there that aren't in KSA or Pakistan (e.g. salafipublications books and al-Hidayyah).

So what do you guys recommend?

I'm thinking of "Even Angels Ask" (By Jeffrey Lang?) which a lot of people recommended some time back and "The Prophet's (SAW) Prayer" by Shaikh Al-Albani at least.

Jazzak-Allahu Khair for your suggestions Insha-Allah.

Wassalam-u-Alaikum,
Uzer

The Prophet's Prayer in its entirety is up on the internet, you can read it at the USC-MSA website, or visit my site and I have a link to it.

I would think that Pakistan has all of these books.

Assalam-u-Alaikum,

I know the Prophet's (SAW) Prayer is online but reading online doesn't come close to reading an actual book which you can access at any time at all.

To be honest I haven't done a thorough search of Karachi to see if I would find these books, but I presumes they wouldn't be available because I couldn't find them in Riyadh.

What is your suggestion on a good book on Hajj and Umrah?  ANy other suggestions?

Wassalam-u-Alaikum,
Uzer

If you aren't sure what books to get then here is a rough guide.  You need to have books covering the 5 pillars of Islam, most importantly starting with books which tackle the Islamic creed and belief in Allah.  Then after this basic foundation read whatever takes your fancy, as everyone has different preferences, as Allah says
"qad 'alima kullu unasin mashrabahum" al-Baqarah, 60

Can't agree more !  And you can't scribble notes around the margins.

A nice introductory text is Bilal Philips guide to Hajj and Umrah (mini pocket size)
There is also a modern work which has diagrams etc and tackles other things apart from the rituals.  It is by Dr. Mamdouh Muhammad (Hajj & Umrah - The A to Z)

Assalam-u-Alaikum,

Jazzak-Allahu Khair Muhannad for your time.

About the creed and Tawheed I have a book called Taqwiyat ul Iman from Dar-us-Salam.  Any other you recommend?

Has anyone read God-Oriented Life by Wahiduddin Khan.  I read a reference to it in a Yahiya Emerick article and I thought I should look into it.  What do you know about the author?

Jazzak-Allahu Khair

Well i suggest he get the islamic magazines here rather than the books as most should be available at amazon

also tell him to try the urdu section in most uk library as pakistani muslims tend to congregate in larger cities in the uk and the libraries cater for this by having islamic books in mixed urdu english translation

i suggest you get books like 'the road to pakistan' which is a EXTRAORDINARY history of south asia from pre-historic to present era

generally you'll find books to help you with urdu etc much easier to get here than anywhere else including pakistan

once again tell him to go on jamaat with people and they will show him around . i suggest visiting Dewsbury Merkaz
