Does the anyone know where I can find the hadith about the reward for praying in congregation for 40 days consecutively without missing the first Takbeer?

slm  :)

Would the following hadith be what you're looking for?

Anas Ibn Maalik (Radiallaho Anho) narrates that he heard Rasoolullah (Sallallaho Alaihi Wassallam)  saying, “A person who, in all sincerity, is constant in his Salaah with Jamaah for forty days, without missing being present when the person leading Salaah starts Salaah by saying Allah o Akbar receives two awards: one of freedom from Jahannam and the other of freedom from hypocrisy."

walaikum salaam wrt,

There is a hadith that is similar to that, that talks about doing 40 consecutive prayers in the prophet's mosque. I asked about that one in particular and was told it was very weak.

As salaamu alaykum, just to reaffirm what sis. jannah said concerning the hadeeth is correct {btw, i never knew jannah was a muhadith or better phrased a muhadithah...... you go girl !!!!!!}. for if you go check the hadeeth itself you will see that Imam At Tirmidhee comments after hadeeth by saying "this hadeeth of Anas ibn Malik is "ghayr mahfudh" i.e. not saheeh, {as a matter of fact it is} "mursil" {missing a link}, because ibn Ghaziyah {one of the narrators in the isnaad}  never met Anas.  Ibn Hajar also said that the hadeeth is weak.
As i mention this, it brings to mind one of the problems regarding the translated books of hadeeth in english {i mean those that are available aside from saheeh Al Bukhari and Muslim, such as Abu Dawud, An Nasa'i and especially At Tirmidhee}, because if you read At Tirmidhee {in arabic} he usually comments at the end of the hadeeth explaining either its authenticity or its weakness, which is why some scholars prefer it over Abu Dawud, and this is what you don't you find in the translated versions i.e. the authors comments regarding the hadeeth. This is just a side note i just wanted to draw to you all attention so when next reading the Sunan of Abu Dawud, At Tirmidhee, An Nasa'i or Ibn Majah you all will be aware.

Jazakhallah Khair Br assing but which hadith is not Sahih?

The one about the 40 prayers in the Prophet's Masjid or the 40 days praying in Jammaah with the first takbeer?

The hadeeth  that is daef is the about catching the first tabkeer in jamaah for 40 days, as for the one about praying in the prophe's for 40 days, then this is the first time i have ever heard this hadeeth, not to negate the fact that there are  authentic ahadeeth out there about the merits of praying in the prophet's masjid, however, whether or not this hadeeth is authentic, then you will have to show the original book of hadeeth where this narration came from and from thereon we can look into it. And Allah knows best.

slm BrKhalid,

According to my Imam the one about the prophet's mosque is dhaeef as well. Every book/article on ziyarah to Madinah mentions it so i asked about it and he said it is weak.
