| My dear and respected brothers and sisters in Islam First of all I would like to congratulate you on such a good site for Muslims, may Allah SWT bless you. I am just wondering whether no Muslim in the whole wide world has noticed the page 56 of the TIME magazine of April 16th, 2001. It is a part of the article "Jerusalem at the time of Jesus" that I am referring to. TIME has naood-o-billah published a photograph of our dear Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) receiving divine message from the Archangel Jibreel (AS). Are we the citizens of this madinat al muslimeen so weak that we cannot even ask for an apology from the editor and management of the magazine. I am sure I am wrong. Wassalam I am not a Mumin at all, though some times try to be one, but so far did not have much success. Please pray for me. |

| Assalam ualykum, Yes, I noticed that. Sad. I wonder if cair has been alerted about it? I believe it is either a Turkish, persian or chinese painting. I am not sure though. Also they reported how Muslims in Bangladesh tried to forcefully convert some Christians. They left out all the important details about it so an average reader can't verify the information easily. wassalam |

| Time Magazine apologises after Muslim protests Sat Apr 21 17:45:37 2001 GMT SRINAGAR, India, April 21 (Reuters) - The U.S. weekly Time Magazine apologised to its Muslim readers on Saturday after hundreds of demonstrators protested in India's restive Kashmir state at an image in the magazine of the prophet Mohammad. The April 16 issue of Time published the image in an "unintentional" affront to the Islamic faith, along with an article about Jerusalem during the time of Jesus, Time Asia Editor Adi Ignatius said in a statement in New Delhi. "Time Magazine would like to apologise to Muslim readers and the general public...(it) regrets the publication of this image," Ignatius said. In the Muslim faith, images of the prophet and idol worship are banned and considered blasphemy. Earlier in the day, police in Indian Kashmir used tear gas and batons to disperse hundreds of demonstrators protesting against the magazine, which they said contained blasphemous remarks against the prophet Mohammad. Police said they fired dozens of tear gas shells in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, to disperse Muslim protesters, mostly students. The protesters pelted stones at police and forced most shops in the heart of Srinagar to shut down. Several other towns in the Kashmir Valley witnessed similar protests on Saturday, police said. All copies of the magazine were seized from Srinagar sellers on Friday after a small student protest in the capital to prevent further trouble, they added. Following the protests, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir, India's only Muslim majority state, banned the sale and distribution of the April 16 issue of the magazine. "The Divisional administration in Kashmir has banned the sale and distribution of the April 16, 2001 issue of Time magazine for the blasphemous content that has hurt the religious sentiments of people," an official statement said. Nearly a dozen militant groups are fighting New Delhi's rule in Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities say more than 30,000 people have been killed in separatist violence in the Himalayan region since 1990.
