| asalaam alaikum friends - i received the following in an email...please follow through with the request, on behalf of the younger muslim generation growing up in america... jazak Allahkhair ********************************************** > Brothers & Sisters > Attention: All Muslims! Recently started, there is a letter writing campaign to McDonalds to encourage them to put out a legitimately certified HALAL meal. This is not too much to ask from a worldwide corporation, especially since there are popular locations in predominantly Muslim population countries. We deserve to be able to go to a national/worldwide restaurant and feel safe letting our children eat the meals, withstanding the fact that they already are eating these meals. We, as Muslims, have tremendous purchasing power, and it is time for us to mobilize, take simple actions such as letter (or email) writing, and make a certified HALAL meal a reality. Please encourage Muslims around you to set an example for our children and help better this life for them. Write to McDonalds, be direct, polite, encouraging, and importantly, clear on the goal of certifying a HALAL meal. A small change can be a ripple for great improvements. Please do this. It is not hard, this goal is certainly not impossible, and more notably, this is important. Make sure you forward this information to as many people as possible. Made possible through letter writing campaigns, there is now going to be an Islamic USA postage stamp released in October. This letter is a request to McDonalds to serve legitimately certified HALAL meal. I know McDonalds is a great eat out place, but I am often disappointed in the menu that I must choose from. Since I am a Muslim, I am unable to eat any meat served at McDonalds. This is because the meat served is not Halal meat. But if it were halal, the menu would be much more appealing and I would be more likely to eat out at McDonalds. McDonalds is a worldwide restaurant and Muslims in general would enjoy eating the meals there if the meat was certified to be halal. Muslim children are already eating these meals, but we feel that with the presence of halal meat in the restaurant, we would be able to eat more than the fish meal and french fries. By serving halal meat, McDonalds would be able to open its market to more Muslim customers, especially since there are popular locations in predominantly Muslim populated locations of the United States. We are hoping this is not too much to ask from a worldwide corporation, especially since there Halal McDonalds in other Islamic countries, such as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. We, the Muslims in the community, would greatly appreciate it if the McDonalds Corporation would consider serving Halal meat in the restaurant. We would also be more inclined to eat at McDonalds than any other franchise, such as Burger King, simply because of the fact that it would be permissible for us to eat the meat there. | Aslamu alaikum I feel we should not make it a priority to ask filthy rich non-Muslim companies to start catering for Muslim needs, instead we should look to help and support good Muslim businesses. We should want Muslims restaurants to become worldwide corporations, so then the we won't have to go to places like McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken. How is it that we Muslims don't mind that so much of the Ummah's money is going to such places, Halal food or No Halal food. wa salam |

We do appreciate hearing from our customers. Currently, several McDonald's restaurant in Michigan and California are serving items of halal food prepared according to the dictates to the Koran. | [slm] It looks like they will serve halal meals in areas that have large muslim populations (Michigan & Cali). Even though I don't eat fast food I think it's a worthy request since there's one on every corner. Mickey D's like any other corp. wants to make more money and if serving halal value meals will bring em more customers then they'll do it, it's as simple as that |
