| assalam 'alaikum everyone, I've been invited to a dholki party for a friend who is getting married this summer in sha'a Allah, and I'm wondering what this is and whether there is anything special that I need to do. All I know is that this particular gathering will be women only. So, if any of the Indian/Pakistani contingent (or anyone else for that matter) could tell me I'd be soooo happy. :) Jazak Allah Khairan in advance wassalam, Leslie |

[/quote] if u've ever been to an indian/pakistani wedding before..i'm sure u've also been to the "mehndi" (henna) which is where there's singing, dancing, putting henna on the girl..:) (sometimes the boy too :o) anyhow..a dholki is like a pre-mehndi type event..usually ppl wear different bright colors :) and they basically practice what they will sing @ the mehndi :) weddings r way too much fun :) congrats to ur friend :) inshAllah, this helped u some :) have fun ;) later langur ;-D |
