| slm SORRY Br. KHALID!!!!!!!!! I accidently deleted your post, I went for the reply button and the mouse slipped and went to the delete button. :( Anyways Br. Khalid asked about the brothers that are really into Paan and those that aren't and think the others are addicts. Ok, let me say I don't do PAAN, but I do know there are people that are into it. Some of the PAAN does contain tobacco, so that is a serious problem as we know tobacco is addictive while other PAAN doesn't contain tobacco. |

| [slm] My dad had some paan in his office and i picked it up and bit in it and I almost fell to the floor from dizziness! The tobacco in it was so strong! I thought it was poison so i panicked and went running to my dad but he assured me it wasn't poison. Man i never tasted anything like that before! It was so gross. And oh yeah the paan wasn't my dad's. one of the guys that worked for him ate it. yuck! but sweet paan once in a while is good. :) Unless you have tobacco in it how can you get addicted? | [slm], Thinking of paan it reminds me of the first time I had it, when I was I think 6/7 yr old. I like all other kids, wanted to immitate grown up people chewing paan and one day after many days of pleading I finally managed to get my Ummi to give 10 paise for a paan! I went to the paan shop and asked for paan and that chacha gave me a paan. Now how was I supposed to know that I am supposed to ask paan without Zarda (the tobacoo thats in it!) and how was that poor chacha was to know that I was buying it for myself and not for someone older! So I took the paan and ate it and then went into a neighbor's house to play and there the world started to revolve around me and I fell down and threw up! although I was more disappointed at the time that I had to throw up the paan before my tounge and lips got red than for the dizziness I felt. But alhamdulillah nothing serious happenned, our neighbors took care of me. since then whenever I do try a paan (which could be once in years) I make sure to ask the guy giving it to me that it doesnt contian any Zarda in it! anyways... If you have any doubts as to why it is haram then I suggest you go to any maxillo-facial dept in areas where people consume this filth and meet with their patients. Removing half of somebody face due to cancer is not a nice thing nor is being told you have a few months to live because the cancer has spread. May Allah open the eyes of all Muslims to consume the vast majority of things which he has made lawful and to avoid like the plague khaba'th like paan ps staining is not pretty but is only of minor significance as these chewers normally have abnominable oral hygeine. | Assalaamu alaikum, All this talk about paan reminds me of kola nut, a bitter chewish type of nut eaten by people in Africa. It is high in caffeine and the locals are often addicted to it, chewing on them like chewing gum! And it also stains the mouth and teeth. ewww, it really is an acquired taste. Same goes for paan except maybe for the sweet paan which is tolerable like once in a year :) Wasalaam. |

| slm Where did I get it? Some FOB sent it to me, and check this out. This fob even enquired how much it would cost to get that PAAN shipped out to Houston. Oh man, some people miss their homelands so much that they got to bring part of it back here. :) |
