| asalaamu alaikum, I just wanted to ask the brothers and sisters out there... what do you guys think about being a muslim in secret? Stories? How and what to do? I've been told by someone before that they would kill me if I became a muslim... is it alright to keep quiet where community unrest is at stake? anik,. |

| asalm walakum, there is one at my uni, he used to be sikh, and we all know what sikhs believe about muslims. so he hasn't told the sikhs he is muslim, but he prays and stuff. |

| asalm walakum, i know this person who used to be jahoves witness, he and this lady went to this mans house to give him dawa, the man said he wont let the lady in cause that would be freemixing , and told her she could go to some one elses house. so he got the male jahova's witness alone, he gave him dawa and he became muslim. but he told him he couldn't let the johavas witnesses know cause he will lose his house and his bank account. he is openly muslim now. |

| slm A young lady who was sikh became muslim. Her parents actually locked and barracated her in their home, wripping out the phone lines. One of her new muslim friends hadn't seen or heard from her in a couple of days. They found out (gotta keep this part secret) and our mosque arranged for an intervention. They sent a couple of burly looking Muslims to her home to rescue her- to no avail. Then they had me and another sister go with a police officer- to no avail. (the police said they couldn't make them answer the door). Her parents and uncles were professionals and went to work every day. So one day we had a locksmith come- we feined being locked out- another sister who looked similar used her drivers license. We grabbed her- kept her secluded for weeks. Humdil Allah eventually she married and is living happily forever. She was defianately scared for her life- they had weapons all over the house. Personally I was scared too! Masha Allah , the escape was made easy for us. I have lost touch with her, sigh. But if you are reading this.... I am at the same phone/address! The Clam 8-) |

| It happened right here in America. In Chicago- the mafia.... If charges were pressed, I did not hear. Her parents did come to the mosque and made a scene. |

| Sis Kathy, I think we need a strong familia like yours to join the rest of the families. I'll talk to the other godmothers and see what they say about letting non-New Yorkers into the familia (I dont think they would have a problem , but I need the constent of all la godmothers). Last week they were criticising you for living in the boondocks and now they want to take you over!!! wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah, Anik you don't have to let the fact that you're Muslim be public knowledge if doing so would put your life in serious and immediate danger. In the same way, if someone holds a knife to your throat and tells you they will kill you unless you deny Islam or Allah, you can deny it, as long as you are certain of the truth in your heart. Something to consider though is whether the reason you're hesitant to announce that you're Muslim is out of fear for your life or fear of people's reaction to the news... ie hostility from people, pity, etc. If it's the second case we gotta remember that when we die we're not going to have to worry about what other people think of us.. it's going to be Allah's opinion of us we'll be worried about.
