Abu Muhammad ibn Hayyan narrated that Abu Tharr al-Ghafari once said: "There will come a day in your world when a man will be envied for the speed of his traveling vehicle, to which fascination he too will take pride, and which possession he will cherish, and such condition is similar today to the envy people may have towards someone who begets ten male children."

have you noticed that guys that have the music blaring so loud that you think that the vibrations will cause a minni earth quake will pull up to a stop at a red light or a stop sign will look around to see who's looking at them? That's so pathetic, to show off like that. I mean these guys must be very insecure. Never look at them, it just feeds their ego. LOL. What's even more funny is that ppl who have broken down cars but real expensive speakers installed and you can hear them coming a mile away.

Sr Se7en,

Where did you get that hadith from...??? Can you give me the source or even the book from where you have quoted it from.

As for the Porsche well they are nice arn't they !!!??? I know some dudes have spent more on their car than on their house how sad especially when it comes to speakers.

Anyway I don't know why your picking on us men, I've seen womenin the GTis and porsches, with lipstick yes the gloss one(RED), with police shades on their head, no head scarfe, music blarring, in an open top and thinking hey we are hip and usually its not just one Korre in the car its several who are insecure and looking for a similiar Bro.

slm,

I don't think se7en is picking on anyone. It is a quote and it is rather interesting how true it is nowadays for either gender.

ps what is a Korre?

:)

P.S. I'm assuming "korre" is the punjabi word "kuree" which means "girl."

as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllah,

That quote was not a hadeeth of Rasulullah [saw], but the words of Abu Tharr al-Ghafari as narrated by Abu Muhammad ibn Hayyan, from the book The Beauty of the Righteous translated by Muhammad al-Akili.  I do not know the authenticity of the text nor the strength of the narration.  I do know that there is a similar hadeeth of Rasulullah [saw].

Isn't it an interesting statement?

I didn't mean to offend you.  It seems like cars, their speed, color etc etc are of more interest to guys than girls.. this being said from a sister with two brothers, one who mocked me for years (and still does actually) for calling some kinda cadillac a viper and for not knowing what a spoiler was... not to say there aren't girls who are into that stuff too.

ps - saleema, laboogie, I have storrrrrrriiiieesss about guys in cars like that you wouldn't believe :P

asalaamu alaikum all,
alright I don't wanna bust the good vibes in this thread

but if we are a collective people, I just wanna stop US from what i think is
unproductive

calling ppl certain words to put them down , making generalizations and stuff

why are we pointing fingers?

I think the post started off in good taste, and even if it goes casual that's
totally cool, but I disagree with ppl making judgements on ppl who listen to
loud music and stuff.  If they're insecure, that's sad and we shoulkd try to be on
the side of Islam rather than ridicule ppl.

sorry if I offended you guys but i love this msg board even though I'm new and
we are all brother s and sisters here. asalaamu alaikum.

             Disagree
Ridicule of the bad things in people is a good way to make them feel ashamed of their actions if talking sense to them dosn't work

I don't think anyone was ridiculing anyone here. If someone is insecure then they are insecure. Simple as that. If they do stupid stuff then you can't call it by any other name. How you go about telling them to stop acting in such a manner-that's where hikmah comes in

To auntie Jannah and Se7en,

I didn't take offence at your post in fact I found it quite humourous. It is true and a sad fact.

As for Bro Arsalan your words are sweet and polite, keep it up.

Yes Korre is a term know for a girl(lady).

Enojoy the day.

In order to avoid such a fate, I believe the correct term is "Den Mother"   :)

certainly i have no problem with putting them down

they associate with me and yet they have no personal dignity
why should i then destroy my dignitas by accepting
their actions?

woah.. I gotta think more before I post..
Ridicule of the bad things in people is a good way to make them feel ashamed of their actions
would that necessarily get them to change though?  or would that just make them feel humiliated and insulted, and build resentment towards you and all you stand for?
I think the post started off in good taste, and even if it goes casual that's totally cool, but I disagree with ppl making judgements on ppl who listen to loud music and stuff.  If they're insecure, that's sad and we should try to be on the side of Islam rather than ridicule ppl.
that's definitely a good point anonymous.

the whole reason I started this thread in the first place was because as soon as I read that quote, a certain image popped up in my head of a dude in a porsche talking about how many horsepowers his ride is... and I think it's just really interesting if you think about it... it just emphasizes the fact that shaytan doesn't use anything new to distract us, make us greedy, proud, arrogant, pompous... back in the day it was camels or the numbers of sons.. and now it can be how many heads you turn when you go cruising..
