do you know that the food you are eating is HALAL?

HOW did you earn the money that paid for it?
We all know how to read the ingredients, how many of us know that the job we do is a hallal job?
how many of us even care? why do all of us make sure we by hallal food but few people make sure the money that pays for it is from a hallal source?
We all learn about the law of the land so we don't break the man made laws that are produced by the most perverted and untrustworthy people in our society, the politicians. But how about learning Allah's laws so that we wont break the laws created by our creator? His punishment is more savvier then any that the humans who make laws can handout.

I don't have one percent of a doubt whether my job is halal or not becuase it is. I work for a top employer and the hours I do I try and make them  for my employer. I further my career and I am always looking ways to improve my career and the organisation. I feel very responsible for doing a good job and I get extremley upset and disheartend when my performnce starts to drop. Thats why I'm always reading and improving my skills and helping others as best I can.

And which laws of Allah are you referring to ? Remember Allahs mery has surpassed his wrath.

It is true that Allah's mercy is greater then his wroth, it is also true that he has given us a hallal way and a harram way to chose from. It is our chose if we decide to be his obedient servants, or rebel against his orders. it is this life that we use to collect our provisions for the next. and once this life ends we have no further chance to earn for the future. Many people chose to ignore what our lord has commanded us to do, thinking that they know for certain that Allah will forgive all of their sins. Whether Allah forgives or not is up to him. So we should always be obedient to our lord, and be repentant when ever we fail to obey. If we acknowledge him as our lord and acknowledge the fact that he has given us a way of life to follow to gain success, we must find what is the way of life and what is it that goes against it. And we have to keep a eye on our life to make sure our actions stay on the strait path he has proscribed for us.

Brother Jehad, first of all cool it.

Thru out my career, I have tried to avoid haram income.  So for example, I have delibetaerly avoided tring to get jobs with banks, or other riba instituistions.  But the bottom line is that if you work in the west, and even most of the time in the non-muslin world, it is almost impossible to avoid some kind of INDIRECT contact with something that is haram.  So my advice is make sure that the work you do is NOT directly haram, or that your employer does not get a majority of their income thru haram means.  At a minimum, do not wkrk for a bank.

And Allah knows best.

asalm walakum,
What ever leds to harram is harram
If you find it impossible to live in the west in a hallal way it is farrad to move to some where where you can.

Jehad, the Prophet Muhammed SAW said "I was not sent down to cause difficulties".

I can think of no place harder to earn a halal living in than our great muslim country Pakistan.  I mean when you faced with a situation where you take a bribe from a powerful industrialist, or have your family, livelihood and own life threatened, what can you do ?  Does this mean that all the Pakistanis should leave Pakistan ?

BTW, what do you do Jehad ?

Arslan, if you are referring to me as being rude, please correct me and forgive me, may Allah grant you good.

asalaamu alaikum,

I personally would say also that it is so hard to get away from some sort of haraam in the West.  I think that discretion has to be placed upon certain trivialities. To leave a place because you d\try your best to do a directly halaal occuptaion and yet someone in your line of work takes part in haraam is not the answer: no community is perfect and you will fin yourself living in not too many places.

That way, you can't buy groceries from a non-muslim because the profits go the bank and collect interest, and if you say "well go to a muslim grocer", he must've brought things or furnished his shop from someone who collects interest.  Isn't that leading to haraam? your money will go to him, and it will end up eventually collecting interest somewhere in this world, which is leading to haraam.  So as you can see, there's a limit to it.

humans are imperfect; i think that the point of questioning what kind of a job you do is positive, but I also think there is such a thing as "going too far". that's my outlook at least. anik,.

[slm],

I was in a workshop a some time back in which the speaker pointed one thing, Prophet Muhammad (saaw), bought some wheat or something in exchange for his armor from a Jew. So buying products or services from people who involve in interest might not be haram because we are not concerned with what he does with his money. But giving interest and taking interest is definitely haram.

There are many other things that the speaker said, that we can not buy a house on mortgage, we cannot keep credit cards, can not work in organisations involving in interest money etc. etc.

It is true that this deen is not hard, this does not mean we should forget about the laws that the whispers of Shatan tell us are hard. We should buck up and obey what your lord has ordered you to do. Be patient with what we have been ordered, previous generations had their skin removed with iron combs for the deen Allah sent to them (Esa alaysalam’s people). We may find some of the laws hard, but it isn’t rules such as living with out interest, these kind of rules are most difficult for people who have become addicted to the harem life. Living with out interest is the easy bit, what is the hard part is to make sure no one else does, i.e. remove the kufr government that permits kufr interest banks, In countries like Pakistan by replacing the government by the khalafah, in the west by liberating them from the depravity they live in by invading their country once we have put our own house in order(the Muslim world).
