As'slamu Alykum all;

I have been facinated with the quality of the messages that are posted on this board.  Many other boards, are full of filth and questions that lead to no where..!!!

Well, I am a New Yorker, who lives in Houston, Texas.  I am involved with the local Muslim community, Islamic school, and Texas Prison Dawa.  I work for Compaq.

I hope to hear from some of you, if not all of you.  I hope that I will be a welcomed guest in the new city of Madina..!!

Jazakum Allahu Khiran all..!!

Welcome to the board.  Enjoy your stay. :)  I remember a long time ago a brother who worked at Compaq out in Texas, but now I can't remember who it was.

Well, I remember when Dr. Laeeq Khan (ISNA speaker 2 years ago) said: "A prison Worden once told me, how do you people do it?  We have the toughest criminals in this facility, but when they become (Muslims), they transform into a new person.  More obediant, behaves nicely, and become at peace with themselves!"

That was the straw that broke the Camel's back for me.  Yes, the first time I gotten into a Max Security prison, it was scary, but afterwords, it was easy and interesting.  The brothers I go there to visit make me very much welcomed and they are eager to see me every month.

Basically we go there to explain to them the Quraan, Sunnah, and other questions that they might have.  Our sessions are so popular, more non-Muslims attend than Muslims.  Al-Hamdu Lillah everytime we go there, 1-3 become Muslims.  Al-Hamdu Lillah.  So we work with them to understand the Islamic "basics" religion.  I hope all Mosques in the US start something like this.

Jazakum Allahu Khiran for listening..!!

Ahlan wa sahlan.  Khush aamdeed.  Welcome to the Madina of Muslims.  Do you know anyone that is from/in College Station by any chance?  Which Masjid do you go to in Houston?

To Kashif:
Come on bro!  There's obviously a difference between "remembering an encounter with someone" and "remembering *who* that someone was!"

For example, this is a perfectly logical statement:
"I remember that I once met someone at Houston who was also talking about working in the prison.  I forget who it was that I met though"

To Bhaloo:
Don't worry bro, I got your back :)  These Brits don't scare me none!!! :P

[slm]I have had the pleasure, and honor, of meeting brothers in the prison unit and I count some of the brothers I have met, albeit briefly, as the finest people I have ever known. Unfortunately I dont get this opportunity very often. But the first time, you're naturally apprehensive. But now, if I was called to see someone in the unit, I would run to see him, much sooner than anyone anywhere else. I think I'm more eager to see them than vice versa.

Welcome to the board brother, and may Allah reward you for your efforts.[slm]

As'slamu Alykum;

Jazaki Allahu Khiran sister Saleema.  Thank you for your involvement in the Islamic School!  We appreciate you efforts..!!

Now, brother Arsalan.  Here is a name of a brother who attended College Station and now he is a great asset to our community (we think of him as such, but Allah knows his hart better).  His name is brother Dr. Nadeem Islam.  Do you know him?!!   :)

Yeeeeeeessssssssssss!!!!!!!!!! :)

Nadeem (aka "bin" ) and I went to the same high school and college.  He's 3 years older than me though.  I know him very well, and he's certainly one of my mentors and "big brothers" alhamdulillah.

Hmm.  I wonder who else you know.  Iqbal?  Younoos?  Man it's a small world isn't it!

Anyway, good to have you here brother.

Wassalamu alaikum.

Kashif I think you got your colors wrong.  Let me color it in for you correctly.  ;)

slm,

Enjoy your stay on this addictive board brother Rowdan,
I once knew a Prison warden who worked in the UK, man it was a tough job. But the best thing was that some people changed for the best.

Towards your success in getting more people closer to Allah.
Ameen.

Yes, that is him.  He is now a graduate of Baylor School of Medicine.  He fixing to take an "ER" job in Detroit.  We love the brother of the sake of Allah.

By the way.  Why is your nick name (Madina Alim)?!  Before I can give you my two cents worth, I would like to hear from you first on this..!!  ;)

Jazak Allahu Khiran brother Hanif for your uplifting comments.  May Allah accepts from all of us.  May Allah forgive all our shortcomings and commit us all to Jannat-Al-Firdous.  Ameenn..!!

Man!  I should make this a part of my signature!  You are the third person to ask me that.

No.  I am NOT an Aalim!!!

On this board, you get certain titles based on how many posts you have posted.  After you have posted 1000 posts, your title becomes "Madina Aalim", and it stays with you until you post 1500 posts, when your title changes to "Madina Siddique."  Of course, this is all Jannah's idea!

See the Help for more info on this.
