Asalaamu Alaikum, There was a young man who went overseas to study for quite a long time. When he returned, he asked his parents to find him a religious scholar or any expert who could answer his 3 questions. Finally, his parents were able to find a Muslim scholar. Young man: Who are you? Can you answer my questions? Scholar: I am one of Allah (SubHana Wa Ta`ala )'s slaves and insha-Allah (God willing), I will be able to answer your questions. Young man : Are you sure? A lot of Professors and experts were not able to answer my questions. Scholar: I will try my best, with the help of Allah(SubHana Wa Ta`ala ). Young Man: I have 3 questions: 1. Does God exist? If so, show me His shape. 2. What is takdir (fate)? 3. If shaitan (Devil) was created from the fire, why at the end he will be thrown to hell that also created from fire. It certainly will not hurt him at all, since Shaitan (Devil) and the hell were created from fire. Did God not think of it this far? Suddenly, the Scholar slapped the young man's face very hard. Young Man (feeling pain): Why do you get angry at me? Scholar: I am not angry. The slap is my answer to your three questions. Young Man: I really don't understand. Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you? Young Man: Of course, I felt the pain. Scholar: So do you believe that pain exists? Young Man: Yes. Scholar: Show me the shape of the pain! Young Man: I cannot. Scholar: That is my first answer. All of us feel God's existence without being able to see His shape......... Last night, did you dream that you will be slapped by me? Young Man: No. Scholar: Did you ever think that you will get a slap from me, today? Young Man: No. Scholar: That is takdir (fate)........ My hand that I used to slap you, what is it created from? Young Man: It is created from skin. Scholar: How about your face, what is it created from? Young Man: Skin. Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you? Young Man: In pain. Scholar: Even though Shaitan (Devil) and also the hell were created from the fire, if Allah wants, insha-Allah (God willing), the hell will become a very painful place for Shaitan (Devil). Wa Alaikum Assalam... :) |

slm I received this reply to this type of post, does anyone have any thoughts about this? ??? "If I remember correctly he was dealing with matters of the unseen: Qadr, the Punishment of Hell fire and I can't remember the third. Further he was using his arguments as evidence for the existence of these things. It is the use of such arguments to 'prove' matters of the unseen which I understand to be 'Ilm ul-Kalaam' or Polemics. I can't remember where I read this perhaps the more knowledgable brothers can help but Qiyas in matters of the unseen is not permissable. Take for example the use of the hand to slap the other man's face. The problem with entire analogy is that Hell Fire is something unknown and thus not amenable to analogy, let alone the smokeless fire that Iblees is made from, may Allah protect us from his legions. Now if these two are unknown to human experience and the only knowledge we have of these are from the Qur'an and Sunnah, which is limitedm, then how can an analogy be built concerning the interaction of two such matters. The basic rule of no Qiyas in matters of the unseen is the great area of error that permeates through the variant deviant groups of which the most prevalent expression is the Ashaaree understanding of the sifaat of Allah. A very good example is their clear falling into this trap about Allah descending to the lowest Heaven and thus not being on His arsh. Their problem is that drew an analogy between the descent of our Lord and the pathetic and miserable descent of His creation, subhaanallah. When a miserable creation that our meager and feeble intellects see descends it is below its starting point, but to draw an analogy for Allah from this is a colossal error, as the understanding of the Salaf was." |

asalaam alaikum friends - actually, i posted this same story not too long ago...why dont you check it out here: http://www.jannah.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl/YaBB.pl?board=bookstore&action=display&num=2665 it has some responses made by people on how it wasnt the scholars hand, but actually a clay pot.....hmmm, thats true tho, we cant fathom jannah or jahanam....but i guess, the moral of the story is that for every smart mouthed question, there is an equal response, and that those who try to avoid the truth cant hide from it for long... and Allah (SWT) knows best ;) hoped that helped....wasalaam |
