| Asalm walakum, this is my intro My name is jehad, My real name is something else, but I'm not going to tell you. I live in London, I like food, except for red things. I went to Syria, and was shocked at the fact people smile there, I have never seen smiling people before. Its really scary at first. Here people only smile when they want something. O.K, I'll tell you a funny incident that happened to me soon after I first started learning about Islam, it was years ago now. I was in a bus, on the top floor, next to the window, and then a communist sat next to me. I knew he was a communist cause they all seem to have this smell to them, kind of like stale sweat. I could see the communist was Kurdish from the way he looked, so I started dawa to him, to try get him to become Muslim again. I told him that communism can't work as people instinctively want to own property, he told me he disagrees with me and people don't want to own property. I told him even he a communist believes in privet property, he told me he doesn't. so I took his jacket, and told him "so you don't own this". He agreed and went off the bus at the next stop. The moral of the story is "may be some communist do believe in the nonsense they come out with? or may be they only believe in it when the person they are talking to is bigger then them? cause a smaller friend of mine tried it once, the results were different". Any how I hung the jacket up on my wall as a trophy, and my mum came in my room and asked me about the jacket, I told her, and she told me I was nuts. And gave the jacket to a charity shop. Before every one has a go at me, I was young then, and I had just started learning about Islam. |

Well I have heard that the people in the UK are a little uptight, and try to keep their emotions in check. |

| Asalm walakum, I thought you lot were not going to like it? I was thinking about changing it my self. When I came on I could not see it at first so thought it had been removed. Any way, you all seem to have liked my dawa story, so I will write more. Once upon a time jehad met a existentialist. Jehad spent hours explaining to him the existence of god and how we know the Quran is the word of Allah. It didn't work. He just would not except reality. So finally jehad said to him, "do you believe in my foot?". He said, "no, it might not be real". Jehad said,"do you believe in your head?" He said "no it might not be real". Then jehad said to him, "if your head is not real, and neither is my foot, if I kick your head in, I am not really doing it". The existentialist agreed, and told jehad that, that was a valid point. Jehad asked him "should we carry out a experiment to test this theory?". The existentialist did not have a problem with it. Jehad was about to test out the theory, but just couldn't do it, does that mean I am a semi pacifist? I felt really disappointed about not carrying out the experiment, cause I had been looking forward to meeting some one who thinks that way ever since I heard about Imam Azzam Abu Hanifis, conversation with a atheist, where the atheist said to Abu hanifah, if "saton is made out of fire, and so is hell, how would it hurt him", Abu hanifa demonstrated the fact that objects made out of the same substance can hurt each other by throwing a stone on the atheists head and asking him, "did it hurt?". The stone was made out of soil just like us. |

| Well I have heard that the people in the UK are a little uptight, and try to keep their emotions in check hmm, i would probably agree with you. I don't think Jehad is representative of your average brit. We have a very reserved culture here especially when you compare it with some of the more extrovert americans. But then again, Britain is culturally richer and has a deeper history, so people tend to be more polite... :) |

| "question jehad: is being a communist and owning a jacket the same as being a muslim only half way....? it would be interesting to see what you think." iranna , i really didn't understand what that meant? i will try answering it any way, communists believe humans are only matter, so if all the material needs of a human is satisfied, the human will be satisfied. This goes against reality, as people want and strive for things that are beyound their material needs. I tried to prove to him that even he has love for his privet property by taking his jacket. Communism is not like Islam, it has not got a book like we have the quran, they kind of like make it up as they go along. but all of them share some thoughts, such as dialectics, and that humans are only matter. |

Our bro Jehad is certainly a strange kettle of fish and coming out of the UK remains uniquely anonymous like some other people from these shores. He goes through life thinking everyone is phoney, except his little sister Phoebe whom he thinks is great. It's been years since I read it, but as far as I can remember, the protagonist (can't remember his name) has big problems getting along socially with people. People think he is weird and stuff, but we, the readers, know what he's thinking and actually he's okay on the inside. wasalaam eleanor |
