Wife of Sharjah ruler, Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed, has called to make veils legally binding on all foreign women residents and visitors to the country. Sheikha Jawaher emphasized that such a law is needed to maintain Islamic and Arab traditions. The exemplary civilization of Muslim girls in developing independent personality lies in Islamic laws, she added. She called on Muslims and Arabs to implement the teachings of Islam and let others respect Islam and Muslims. Imitation of Western styles and norms, Sheikha Jawaher said, would not build the Muslim girl's personality. It is the grasp of the legal and illegal from the religious that build personality and not embracing religious fanaticism, she pointed out. Warning Muslim women against the calls for women's freedom, Sheikha Jawaher said the enemies of Islam are out to distance Muslim women from their religion and identity in the form of freedom. Despite the international agencies call for women's rights, no justice is grater than that of God in providing women with their rights, she pointed out. Sheikha Jawaher advised Muslim girls to arm themselves with knowledge, faith and good manners to be good mothers capable of bringing up a generation filled with faith. A good family is the base for a good society, she added. The World Muslim Women Conference held in April last year, Sheikha Jawaher said, aimed at bridging the gap among women.
