How do I get an Imam's address?

Assalamu alaikum,
I live in a small town. We are planning inshallah to bring a learned imam here
for a couple of days. How do we get a hold of them? Is there a site that has
emails or something? like siraj wahaj or whoever.
Jazakum Allahu khairan

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah,

Usually well known imams and speakers try to keep their contact info on the down low, because otherwise they'd just be overwhelmed with invitations, questions, people seeking advice, people wanting to argue..

A good thing to do might be to contact someone active in the imam's community, because he or she can get in contact with them for you and let you know their schedule.

I remember someone getting really upset because they couldn't get in touch with a speaker... I think a lot of times it's easy to forget that these imams and speakers have their own lives to live, have families to take care of, have their own communities to be a part of, have desires to spend time with their friends or learn and study more.. they need breaks and just times to chill sometimes too... and they're taking time out of their schedules to travel and share knowledge with you..  so just keep that in mind and treat 'em well :)

One thing I remember a speaker saying after a lecture is that, you don't honor a speaker by screaming takbeer, that doesn't make him feel any better... you honor a speaker by implementing what it is he's said... by using his/her words as a force that gets you to go out there and improve yourself as a Muslim and contribute to the world around you..

anyway, I hope that helps inshaAllah.

wasalaamu alaykum.

while you're trying to hook it up with an aalim, you'd be surprised how many good resource people there are in your own communities or areas.. so take a look around and try to cultivate some ppl. no one is perfectly knowledgable but everyone has something to contribute and i'm sure they all know how to do research!
