People in this Uni. pray in portacabins. There are Men's and ladies ones. A few years ago when I first came here, I asked some one were the prayer rooms were and he told me, I saw three of them and went in to one, it was very clean, and smelt very nice, I thought to my self "this looks very clean for a room which is used by men?", then I realised, "may be it's the ladies one", so I went to another portacabin and it was a mess, luckily no one saw me going in to the ladies one, I told the Islamic Soc. strait away to fit signs. This has happened before, once I was in south London, and it was Salat time, I knew there was a musjid in a area so I went there, I went in to a pigs nest( police station) and asked them where it is, and the lady looked at me in a strange way and said that's it, pointing to the musjid, it was almost next to the police station. I went in the mushid and the Salat had already started, there were lodes of doors, I didn't know which one to open. I opened one, and I saw people praying, as I walked in I realised the people praying were women, it's a good thing people don't have eyes at the back of the head, and even if they did, it's a good thing those women would not have been able to see me cause the eyes at the back of the head would have been covered with hijab. I went up stairs and prayed in another room. This could have been a very embarrassing moment. Why don't people Clearly mark women's prayer rooms? |

slm Interesting story. :) What's a portacabin? What's inside it? Does it serve any other purpose? |

a portacabin is a portacabin. a cabin that is portable. it is mostly used for construction sites. they have many purposes, when ever a room is needed in a hurry and there is no time to build one. |

I dont think there is a need for signs to distinguish between the brothers and sisters prayer rooms. Just from outside the room you can smell the cheesy feet and easily conclude thats the men's prayer room while the sisters room usually have a fragrent sweet odour! Also look out for the shoes. If there are loads of pairs of woofty smelling trainers and big boots ourside the door you can conclude its the mens room. The size of the room can also be a contirbuting factor. The mens prayer side is usually quite large while the sisters side is 10 times smaller then the mens and usually can be compared with the size of a chicken coup (without the smell!!). ;) |

That only works when there are already People inside. and you can only tell how a prayer room is inside after you go in. |

[slm] I think signs on the doors r very important, specially if it is embaresin 4 the shy ppl out there! Men n women prayer rm's should both b clean as it is a place to worship Allah(swt) Sooo it is hard to tell which rm belongs to which gender. ;) take care wa-salaam |

slm why is it embarrassing for a guy to walk into the women's section if it's not on purpose? They're all wearing hijab anyway and just peeking in the door isn't too bad is it? It's not like you walk in and walk around and have a good look at everything and everyone before saying "whoops..wrong room" wasalaam eleanor ps: I have a few "almost embarrassing moments" but the thing is they're almost embarrassing and if I post them then they'll mutate into embarrassing moments and I have enough of those already :-) |

awwrwb elinor if we peek in and you see us, you will think we are having a good look around. any way that south london thing was a almost deadly moment, a large amount of people there used to be violent criminals before they became muslim. Allahu alim what they would do to some one they think is a pervert trying to have a look see at sisters doing salat. |

slm This is an almost embarassing moment. Imagine that you are washing your hair with egg and oil. You go to work and your co-workers say, what is that terrible smell? A few hours later when you go outside in the hot sun, the egg starts to sizzle on your head and you end up with scrambled eggs. Did it happen? Not yet. ;) |

wa alaikum us-salaam Yeah right, Arshad. Sure it didn't happen to you. Thats almost as classic as brothers when they ask "shaikh, a brother is wondering if its ok to do x,y,z..." when you know he's actually talking about himself! hehe. Kashif Wa Salaam |

I was just saying that it might be embarassing if something like that happened. :) So you think if brother a is asking about x,y,z, brother a did x,y,z? I guess that's possible, but I tell you, I would not do this egg business. |

slm As a health precaution I would not recommend anyone using raw egg on their hair for more than a few minutes. I would be concerned about samonilla. |
