| Alsalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmat Allah Wa Barakatuhu Dear bro's and sis's, You will recall that in June 1995, one young man, Br. Housam Kabalan, cycled across Canada covering St.John, NF to Victoria, BC, from June 15 to Sept 12 1995 to raise funds for the children of Sarajevo. It was a very successful fundraising effort for the innocent children of Bosnia. Alhamdulillah, on June 24, 2001, another enthusiastic young man, Br. Alan Okanovic, will be cycling across Canada in an effort to raise funds for the children of Chechnya, Iraq and Palestine. Br. Alan, a Bosnian Muslim, has been residing in Calgary since 1994 and is currently a Bow Valley College student. He decided to go on this one-man mission after the succes of the First Cross Canada Cycle through which the children of Bosnia were greatly helped. He feels that now it is his turn to come to the aid of children in other war-torn countries. This cycling tour will start on Monday June 25 from Calgary ending on October 7 in Vancouver. At the finish of his tour, Br. Alan would have covered 8688 km from St.John's, NF to Victoria, BC. HCI (Human Concern International - a registered charity run by muslims)is sponsoring this Second Cross Canada Cycle Program and is soliciting your help. HCI is looking for committee's to be formed in each city that brother Alen will be passing through, to organize advertising and fundraising events.
