This is the continuation of the radio show thread.

Assalaam alaikum wrt,

last night we were on just being a lil crazy.. we played some nasheed, some athan, some quran.. we read malcolm x's hajj excerpt, br abdulbasir called in to talk about hajj.. all in all it was alot of fun.

inshallah tonight we are going to try to be a little more serious, do some more serious discussion/questions/dawah so listen in albanyians on 91.5 FM at 10pm also 5pm i think faisal is going to be on. btw it's just us.. not the window on islam show

also for those of you not in the area you can listen to it live as well from www.wrpi.org

listen and call in.. ask good questions, this is an EXCELLENT dawah opportunity, we finally have an opportunity to tell people about true islam.. so let's take advantage of it!!!

          http://www.wrpi.org/wrpi.ram

The number to call in  518.276-6248.

Alright I just listened to the Iraq program.  Really nice interview with Altaf (MSA National President).  Everyone, go and listen to it!  I wish Faisal had mentioned what MSA stood for (Muslim Students Association) when introducing Altaf.

I had to smirk at one point, when Faisal mistakenly said, "Cat Stevens, formerly known as Yusuf Islam."  He corrected himself later though :)  It's tough being a DJ huh ;)

Listening to the "top 10 misconceptions" now!  It's got a very laid-back, humorous touch to it all.  :)

Great program guys.  Thumbs up!  Hope you can keep this going for a long time insha Allah.

Wassalamu alaikum.

as salaamu alaykum,

It was awesome :)

Br Ali ROCKED his interview :) As did br altaf :)  Everyone did such an awesome job..

If you only knew how crazy things were behind the scenes ;)  I had to leave the room at times because 'Becks' had me laughing so hard..

I was nervous as heck! It was my first time on the radio, so please don't make fun of my "100 mph NYC accent" (bhaloo) :P or that I said "women daughters" and other stupid things (d'oh) And I don't sound like that *at all* in real life..

What's cool is that some reporter lady called in after my part about cat stevens.. she told me about how she's been interested in Islam for a while, but that she's had trouble with a lot of what she thought Islam said about women's rights... and she said she was really pleased to hear a Muslim woman speak about Islam, and she wants to talk to me more and maybe do an interview.. I was like YEAH!!!#@*$ ;-D

take care y'all :)

wasalaamu alaykum :)

You did a good job Se7en, alhumdullilah.  :)  Faisal sounded like a professional on there, it was really well done.  Although I did notice one thing, when you guys were putting on the Yusuf Islam tape, there was a huge commotion in the background.  It sounded like there was chaos going on over there, like how does this work or what does this button do, or something like that. :)  Overall the show as impressive, but there weren't any people that called in.  :(

wlm,

no idea, lightingatnite is leaving for syria for 3 months...since he's the engineer guy i dunno.  btw you saw how easy it was for us...all it takes is applying for a radio show..taking a few sessions in figuring out all the buttons do and you're all set!!

imagine if there was a radio show like this on every college campus radio station in every city, even for just 1 hour a week...it would make such a difference!

slm,

it used to come on every week, but not sure what we will do in the summer etc. anyone can call in from anywhere, if you're worried about the charges we can call you back. btw the program is on the public radio, thousands listen, people tape it even, rpi tapes it and so do i. but don't let that stop u from calling in:) we need the support!

I remembered! Here I sit on Tuesday night at 10:25, proud of myself for finally figuring out real player, urls, and no talk show- just a lot of music since 9:55.

Was there a talk show?

I wanted to ask a question- but my phone line is tied up by computer to listen to the show! Is there a way to ask via computer?

wlm,

sorry Kathy... since the semester is over there's a whole new schedule.. nothing is announced yet for the summer semester. in the interim last week there were some time slots available so we took a few weird spots like in the evening and at night, but it was just temporary..

but for now there's nothing going on.. inshallah some good ppl will take this up and continue it...

assalaamu alaikum

One of these days, i'll definitely get round to listening to the show - i might even call in, insha'llah. I was really geared up to listening to it this week - but for some reason i thought it was Thursday today (instead of Tuesday).

Anyhow, i remember Radio Ramadhan was running a few months ago in London. Every night there would be a reverts hour, when a brother/sister who had taken the shahada would come on the show and tell us their story and perhaps answer a few questions from the host of the show. Has your show pursued anything like that? (although, i imagine it would be less than 1 hour for you guys).

I listened to all of them, some more carefully than others. This past Saturday br Ahmed was alone and he went over the tafsir of Soorah Hujurat. The week before br Djafer (sp?) was with him and they discussed the basics of Islamic law (halal, haram, makruh, mandoub, etc). This was an informative show. Also, a weirdo called in and asked about abortion. When br Djafer answered he went on about oh this is just like the church, so Islam is like them, how is it different from them, it gives no consideration to women, sex, blah, blah, blah...

The week before Ahmed was alone again (ICNA weekend) and he read a biography of the prophet by some hindu prof (did not listen to this closely). And the week before br Mokhtar was with him and they discussed the seerah from the time of the hijrah. So there, that is a brief review... :)

Wasalaam.
