Dear Brothers & Sisters, Assalaamu Alaikum... Can I ask you a question?! Where do we as Muslims have freedom of speech on the net? Where can we say what we want to say, quoting Ayahs & Hadiths freely without being threatened or having messages deleted or lies & gossip spread about us? Do you know of such a place? If so please inform me...Allah is the great he sees all and hears all and knows all. Allahu Akbar! Wassalaamu Alaikum... Your Brother, Abu Yusef |

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah, Brother Abu Yusef, there are *many* boards and chatrooms that are unmoderated and in which one would be able to say whatever they'd like. Unfortunately, a lot of times what happens is that they degenerate into places of disagreement, insults and bickering between Muslims and no longer become beneficial. Missionaries are also very common. It's very very *very* sad to see this, that a lot of times Muslims cannot have an engaging, beneficial discussion without it turning into a fight, but this is proven over and over again any time a discussion is started about bid'aah, different sects and movements in Islam, and anytime someone says something insulting about another. Alhamdulillah, here we have not had too many discussions that have led to discord. But you only have to go out there and look to see what can happen if they are not contained. Those arguments take over, and the chatroom/msg board no longer becomes a place of benefit or knowledge, but a place of animosity, hatred, and bickering among Muslims. May Allah guide us. wasalaamu alaykum. |

And sometimes the arguments are created deliberately to make people decide that the board /newsgroup should be moderated and then it is by certain non-muslim such as the soc.religion.islam which is moderated by a orthodox x-tian (christine hampton) who allows ant-muslim stuff to be posted and refuses muslim critisisms of x-tianity as 'abuse'..there was also a naqshbandi on board the last time i checked |
