When I read to my two yr.old niece she keeps turning the pages so I can't read the words.  She picked up the habit by watching me turn the pages and now its really difficult to read to her cause she's always turning the pages too quickly.  So how can I correct this bad habit of my niece?

hmm try making it into a game, tell her wait till i say "ping" or some other cool sound effect then you turn the page.. so read it and then go "ping" and she'll turn the page..

Yeah, (it took me a while but) I can see how that might work.  I'll keep you posted if she catches on to it.

Thanks again sister Jannah!

Assalamo elikuim

Or take her hand and point her finger on the words you are reading. That might keep her busy and she "might" not turn the pages :) Good Luck!!!

Well, I'd just read the story all higgeldy piggeldy and if she protests then tell her it's coz she's turning the pages. Or just stop reading and when she protests tell her that it can only go on if you get to turn the pages. Or she can turn them when you say so.
Or pretend to fall asleep if she turns the pages. That drives kids mad. Especially if you refuse to wake up again.

I dunno..just random thoughts about what I'd do

Being a guy and not having the motherly instincts you all have helped very much with your creative ideas.  I read to her today, waiting for her to turn the pages so that I could start some of the ideas, well i just waited.  This time she was too into the story "Angry ants advance" and later she moved on to bigger books like my Crime and Punishment book I was reading and started flipping the pages to that, doing a good job of it i might add.

bro give her some crayons and a book and let her write

whilst you do your work that way she'll get into the habit
of WRITING which is more active than just reading!

also do what i did with my nephew get her some of those
rectangular building blocks and build a tower that she helps you with

that will help develop her powers of analysis as well as creativity

"Just Reading", Just Me,  no Just kidding.

Four of Illinois's top students were interviewed for what was common in each of their outstanding achievement results in terms of development.  One thing remained clear not to delineate anything from writing cause that's interactive too well mostly painting at that age, but each of the student's parents read to them while they were still in their mother's womb.  It turned out that the child who's mother read mystery novels also like to read mystery novels as they grew up.  fascinating aye? in turn we should recite qur'an to our little ones to reinforce the learning later, cause i think they like pick up the vibrations or sorts of things in development we have yet to understand.
