[slm] Just a quick question: Is there any religious basis for men shaving their head and growing a beard? I know that growing the beard is sunnah, but I have seen 2 muslim guys who have also shaved their head. Is this just a random coincidence or something more? thanks :) [wlm] Ruqayyah |

[slm], At a lecture I heard a couple of days back, sheikh Waleed Bassiyouni was talking about imitating the kuffar or the fasiqs or the innovators which is prohibited. And he said shaving your head without any reason whatsoever can be considered as imitating the kuffar. He said you may shave the head, its not prohibited, but dont keep doing it all the time, like some of the people do. Wassalam |

Asalaamu Alaikum ;-) Errmmm I've been told if you shave the hair of your head it grows back stronger and reduces the chances of bladness in old age. I hope some people on the board are listening to this ;) |

THAT akhi is nonsense...i suppose it gets people used to you without hair..so the little that grows back seems more.. regarding hair less is more |

[quote] Errmmm I've been told if you shave the hair of your head it grows back stronger and reduces the chances of bladness in old age. [/quote] slm I was always told "Don't shave your legs coz the hair will grow back thicker". In later years I found out that it just looks that way because the hair that grows back has the blunt thick piece on top where the previous hair was cut off. (does this make sense?). If a hair grows on its own the tip is finer. wasalaam eleanor ps:why am I always talking about *hair* in the guys' section...*blush* |
