The Muslim Food Guide

Asalaamu Alaikum ;-)

Recently we've had the topic of Halal chocolates come up in our Masjid and I found the website below which gives lots of good information on what food products are currently Halal and Haram in the UK. The book that they publish also comes out every year I think.

Interestingly enough all Cadbury's chocolates are Halal except the ones called "Turkish" and "Turkish Delight" !! No comment

Book comes out every year and the scholar is very good, does quite a lot of research for food products. May Allah make it easy for him.

If we adopted the correct way of slaughtering animals we wouldn't be in all this BSE and Foot and Health food mess.

Anyway I don't live far from that scholar so if you do decide to someday come down ere up North my EastEnd Bro, pop in to mee yard. ;)

Salaam

errm i don't think BSE was caused by incorrect slaughtering...i think it was incorrect feeding

everyone used to laugh at me when i warned them about BSE back in the early 90's...

yard?!..eh que?..your from kingston?

Assalamu'alaikum...

Me dear Brits... :)

Do U remember this show on TV (was it Channel 5 or ITV?) called "Watchdog" or smt like that... it's this kind of investigation info-ed shows on consumer products... and I think it was shown last year, in yr. 2000... they did a show on Walkers Cheese and Onion and found that it is not suitable for vegetarian... but guess what? some meat flavoured Walkers crisps are!... I think Roast Chicken is one of them... and so is Bacon!! (if I hear it right... so don't quote me)

And Cheese Doritos are haraam!!! :( :( :( But Walker Cheese is halal? and both contains whey powder? ???

wallahu a'lam

It's a minefield area but I think we have to rely on the Brothers and Sisters who are doing the research in this field and helping you and me out.

The sooner we get a Halal guaranteed trademark, accepted by *all* manufacturers and retailers, the better!

I was told (about six months ago) that all Nestle chocolates are 'cut' in an animal product  (it's some sort of process when making the chocolate.

A sister said that we should boycott Nestle products + write to them and maybe they'll cahnge their manufacturing processes.

I didn't see any Nestle products on the website or was I looking in the wrong place?
