Amusement Parks

Assalamu Alaikum Brothers and Sisters
I want to know if it is okay for muslims to go to amusement parks.  I was thinking the other day and I have never seen any muslims in an amusement park other than Disney World.  Of course, I haven't seen many muslims at all in my life and have never even spoken to a muslim in real life.  I love going to amusement parks, but if there is something wrong in going then I will not.  Anyone with any opinion on this please state it.  I myself cannot see anything wrong with it if I am wearing hijab and coving myself, not eating pork or haram foods, or drinking.  But I know little about what is right and wrong so let me know if you can.  Once again, thank you so much all of you.  The moral support that I get from this board keeps me going even when things seem impossible.  May Allah bless all of you!!!!

Don't muslims in america have mela's and stuff they can go to?

i mean muslims in my area set up a mela and now everybody seems to be copying us!

don't you have like tablighi meets and stuff? most muslims i know in the uk go to the ijtemaa's and retreats and stuff when they want some time out

i would think it was ok if there was a youth day (which i think was sponsered by icna, correct me if im wrong) at the six flags in nj. that was sooo much fun. it was cool because they rented out a part of the park which  they used to pray and set up little shops that sold islamic stuff. they also had halal food being sold. it was fun. i heard they are doing it again on sept 8th. ready for the pirate se7en :)

They also had it in Texas as well (sponsored by ICNA, that was the time Arsalan went bungee jumping, yee haw :) ).

One time I was at Sea World and after I finished praying in the parking lot I saw a Muslim family in the distance walk by me, pretty cool. :)

I haven't heard anything about not attending amusement parks. But every time I go to one there is always a bunch of Muslims...I think its great b/c it shows others that we can have fun.  My first eid was spent at coney island- its a amusement park in NYC-Brooklyn (we had the eid prayer there and then the park was open for us). They had rented the majority of the park for muslims...it was awesome...and to think that was my first eid- I loved it.  It showed me that Muslims do have fun and that they "normal" ;)

3 stories

the sahabi used to have races in the prophets time!

people from a certain area of pakistan refused to accept
an imam because he played basketball!

the imam in my village in pakistan refused to do janaza
for a guy who died because this guy hated kids so much he wouldn't
let them even play in a derelict piece of land he owned

as the prophet said..if you make this deen into a rock it'll
become your tomb
