Innovative ideas about discipline in Islamic schools

Assalaamu alaikum,

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about how to discipline students in a weekend Islamic school.  Does anyone know of a fool-proof system?  The students would be ages 5-13.

Jazakumullahu Khair.

Wassalaamu alaikum,

wlm,

i use a star chart system for homework.. for some reason that works very well. as for discipline, i move the students from their spot to somewhere in the corner and if they still act up i make them promise to be good in front of the whole class or else the next place they'll be is outside or downstairs visiting the principal. then if they do i ask the class what they think and then they're kicked out.. usually you only have to do this once during the semester and they know better.

alhamdulillah the class i have this year is wonderful...but again they're very young 8-12

you have to set the limits and follow through on your threats or they'll walk all over you. secondly try to keep them active and varied throughout the class doing something.. either reading, taking notes, working on a worksheet or in groups etc...

Wa Alaikum Assalam,

I am in that age group, and I think this would work on me.  I think you shouldn't punish them the same way each time.  They would only get used to it.  I think you should punish them the first time and if they do something again, remind them of what happened the last time they acted up.  If this doesn't stop them I think you should increase the punishment each time so they know that if they act up again, it's gonna be worse than last time.

Assalamu Alaikum

wow that's kinda scary isn't it ;) fahad shhhhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell the other kids our secrets ok :)

star chart is where you have all the kids names on a chart and every time they do their homework you give them a shiny star sticker to add next to their name. then they can see how they are doing and you can see who really needs help at the end of the year whoever earns the most stars or makes it to the end wins a prize!!!
