| Assalamu Alaikum !! Yesterday, pakistan won a dramatic test match against England at Old Trafford. I thought the turning point was Trescothick's wicket by Akram. Then Saqlain bowled beautifully to remove the tail. Wonderful comeback by pakistan team to level the series. Hats off to them !! Allah Hafiz |

Remember, Akram played for Lanchashire for a long time. Yes, it is sad that match-fixing does take place in cricket. | Asalaamu Alaikum ;-) I looked at the score at tea and England had only lost 2 wickets and the match was heading for a draw. A few hours later and I was like whoa!!! The Pakistanis have the more naturally gifted players but alas seem to self destruct with frequent regularity. England are now becoming a force, but as a good friend of mine tells me, they lack the depth in bowling to truly become world class. The Aussies should show up these weaknesses but the upcoming one day series is certainly going to be interesting. |

| AA I see that Pak beat England in the one day yesterday. But a few comments : 1. There was a disgraceful pitch invasion, in which Nick Knight was assulated. The Pak players had to plead with the crowd to get off the pitch to allow the match to continue. Pak supporters should NOT act like loutish footbal hooligans. This kind of stuff has been going on for years, and is getting worse. It's only a damn game. 2. To be honets, it's very difficult for me to belive that ANY one day match these days does not have some degree of doubt, with all the allegations and eveidence being uncovered about match fixing. |

| The gloating in which I shamelessly indulged after Karachi and the first test of this series is now beginning to come back to roost! Truly Allah is the most just. | AA Haaris, when it comes to football, we "Tebitters" always support the other side! I remember back in the 60's when England were playing W. Germany. My dad and uncle were watching the game with their English neighbour. Of course, you can guess who my dad and uncle were (nosily) roosting for, and what our neighbour thought about it! And I'll never forget my dad's comment when England used to win cricket matches : "The opposition only has eleven players. But England has eleven players, two umpires, and the weather!" | as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllah, a friend of mine tried to enlighten me as to how cricket is played: How to Play Cricket? Some people find the game of cricket diffficult to understand. Perhaps the following will help: The game is played by two groups. The first group is in and the second group goes out. Some of the group which is in, go out. The group that is out, tries to get the group that is in, out. When one of the group that is in, is out, he goes in and the next one goes out. Then when all of the first group (except one) that is in, is out, the second group that is out goes in. The first group now goes out and tries to get the second group, who now are in, out. Only when both groups have been in and out twice is there a conclusion. This is how the game called Cricket is played! --- uhm... thanks.. I think. :) |

It is also hilarious, I had a good laugh after I read that. It is a bit confusing at first because 'in' ('out') is used for both 'inside club house' and 'batting' ('on field' and 'out'). There are always silly points made about cricket, usually when something slips, and then in an attempt to protect its reputation covers are hastily drawn, but not before a third leg is discovered and people realize that they were long off. Eventually everyone gets short legged and stumped. ;) Cricket is fascinating but like Arsalan I have completely lost interest in it. Watching cricket is interesting and fun but then no one has that much free time! My mother also knows a lot about cricket! But this is because cricket is on pakistani TV like 24/7! Wasalaam. |
