Catholic Wedding

Assalamu alaikum sisters and brothers,
I just recently attended a catholic wedding ceremony because my cousin was getting married.  I didn't really want to go, but I haven't seen much of my family in years and my mother was so happy to do something with me.  It was the first time I was in a catholic church and I felt so strange being there.  There was a giant cross with "Jesus" ,may peace be upon him, on it.  There were also statues of others everywhere and two confession boxes.  It made me sick to see all these things because I have such a strong belief in Islam.  I felt bad for getting angry during their wedding, but I was respectful and sat in the church to watch.  During the ceremony I kept feeling so sad for the priest because he can never get married.  I told this to a few people after the wedding and they agreed.  Not even some of the catholic people could understand why God cannot allow a priest to have the joy of marriage.  During the ceremony they read from the bible and it said that men and women should be together as a couple.  I having read the bible myself at one time found nothing in there that said priest couldn't be married.  So did catholics make rules up?  I try hard to understand other religions and cultures, but when I ask catholics why they do what they do, most cannot give me an answer.  I guess that is why I couldn't ever be satisfied with my parents religion.  My questions could never be answered and in Islam there is always an answer.  Attending this wedding made my faith in Islam even stronger.

Most of those catholic doctrines are made up.  The bible tells them not to make statues, but they do it anyway.  It says not to eat pork, but they still eat it.  A lot of people don't even know the meanings behind the rituals, they just practice it because that's the way their parents did it and so on.  A lot of those practices come from the pagans in Europe (x-mas, easter, etc).  Catholicism is a big part of latin culture and it sucks, it's sad to see millions of people just blindly follow tradition because "that's the way it's always been"

Growing up I was always taught the priests and nuns could not get married because they had dedicated their lives to God, and teaching the Catholic religions.  I never asked for proof in the Bible, for me that was a good enough answer.  Of course, I think that if they changed that rule, then there would not be a shortage of priests.
I have gone to Catholic and Jewish weddings, and I was very happy to share with these people on their special day.  I was always taught to respect others religions.  I know that we may all have our different beliefs, but if they find comfort in their religion, then so be it.  I know others of different religions, who are good people, and good morals, and values.  And even with our differences in religion, we live our lives the same ways, our kids have alot of the same rules to deal with.
Like I said I have gone to weddings of other religions, and funerals of other religions, and have noticed that the emotions of happiness, good will, sorrow, and saddness are all the same.
I want others to respect me and my beliefs, so I show that same respect to others.
