by Sajda Nazlee (79 pages)

This is a well written book authored by a British Muslimah discussing various issues related to the status of women in Islam both the public perception and the reality thereof.

Originally written for her thesis while studying at University, the book is clear and simple and addresses virtually every misunderstood topic that people have come to associate with Muslim women. From a brief look at the history of women's rights in the three main religions and the West, to the rights of Muslimahs as wives and as individuals, the author provides sufficient evidence to show how Islam has come to exonerate and honour women above the station accorded to them in other religions and systems.

Sajda Nazlee quotes numerous feminist authors attempting to undermine Islam and then proceeds to unhinge their arguments by providing evidence from the Qur'an and the Sunnah, and the lives of the Muslim women throughout the ages to show the falsity of such reports.

This book armed me with many arguments of which i had previously been unaware of to help me defend and understand the status of women in Islam. Occasionally, i wished that a little more had been added to some of the chapters to give each topic more depth of coverage.

Aside from the one or two typos in the book, this book is very good and I would recommend it to everyone, those who are new to Islam and also those who have been practising for many years.
