Ever since i was a little kid i would hear of these things. Lately, i hadn't heard much about these sorts of killings and i thought people had finally decided to live and let live. But i guess not. :(

Two dead, six injured in Pakistan sectarian attack

MULTAN, Pakistan, June 15 (AFP) - Unidentified gunmen killed two people and injured six others outside a mosque in a sectarian attack overnight in this central Pakistani city, police said Friday.

Police said the attackers, five people on two motorcycles, sprayed bullets at members of the minority Shiite community late Thursday.

Angry Shiite residents took to the streets following the incident, burning tyres, tearing off sign boards and chanting slogans against the administration.

"One Shiite and one Sunni was killed on the spot while six others were injured," said Shaukat Javed, deputy inspector general of police in Multan.

He said the attackers were members of an underground militant Sunni outfit, the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, that is blamed for hundreds of sectarian killings in Pakistan in recent years.

Police said the situation was tense in the city and they had deployed extra force to ensure peace.

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

Muhammad (SAW) is the Messenger of Allāh, and those who are with him are severe against disbelievers, and merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and falling down prostrate (in prayer), seeking Bounty from Allāh and (His) Good Pleasure. The mark of them (i.e. of their Faith) is on their faces (foreheads) from the traces of (their) prostration (during prayers). This is their description in the Taurāt (Torah). But their description in the Injeel (Gospel) is like a (sown) seed which sends forth its shoot, then makes it strong, it then becomes thick, and it stands straight on its stem, delighting the sowers that He may enrage the disbelievers with them. Allāh has promised those among them who believe (i.e. all those who follow Islāmic Monotheism, the religion of Prophet Muhammad SAW till the Day of Resurrection) and do righteous good deeds, forgiveness and a mighty reward (i.e. Paradise). {Al-Fath : 29}

I was only trying to say how hurt I am to see the members of the Ummah of our beloved Prophet [saw] fight among themselves when the first generation of Muslims were very merciful to one another. This is the state of our affairs now. I am very sad.

Its a poetical irnoy to find the present state of affairs in this manner.
My common sense tells me that this is definitely not the PAkistan that the visionary poet had in mind when he said

"Ek hi sabb ka nabi,
Quraan bhi Ek
Kuch badi baat bhi hothey
Jo Musalamaan bhi ek!

The situation in Pakistan is getting worse each day.. :( My uncle who is Shi'a had to move because he became 'popular' among the Muslim community and SSP (ant shi'a terrorist group) sent him threats, etc. Anyway, why is this happening in pakistan? And not India? I don't hear anything about sectarian violence in India.. ? Any thoughts?
